Talking Saw my first brother on a bike.

Well, at the age of 45, ok soon to be 46, I saw my first brother on a bike Yep he was riding north on 59 on a Harley, wearing leather, a white doo rag and sunglasses. Maybe I should buy a lotto ticket, because I have ridden since I was 12 and it takes almost 34 years to see a black person on a bike, what are the odds of that? Now what's the wildest thing you have seen riding? Personally I have seen two cats riding, the guy had a piece of carpeting attached to the tank, and there were two tabbys clinging on, he pasted me doing at least 80. I just about crashed, it freaked me out

Rick you really need to ride outside of your driveway or cul-de-sac more often!

Either that or come out to Strats bike night more often because there are a few members that are brothers. I met obviously Bro Bill and the other guy i met comes up from Calumet city. Great guys! You really need to meet them. I felt bad for Cal City cause when he finally got to Augies everyone was leaving!

Black people don't ride motorcycles, do they? Especially in doo rags? Oh, sorry, I forgot.

I was on 80/94 with a flat tire on my truck right in front of the Oasis there and I saw a black guy coming in on a Harley that was smoking bad. He must have blown the engine or something, he was throwing oil everywhere. It was pretty scary watching him come in off the interstate with a slicked rear wheel. He almost lost it a few times, but made it up the ramp and was on the phone by the time I got up there. I was impressed with his riding, I'd never seen anyone get a Harley sideways and then recover.

Hi, my name is Matt, and I have a speeding problem

You ought to go to the CCS races then, cuz that dude in the dreadlocks is fast as hell!!!!

Go to Doty rd you Will be the minority there.

Are you serious for real? 34 years and you have never saw a Black guy on a bike? Do you look around while you ride, or just stare straight ahead?

People see what they want I guess.

So did you just assume the entire time that only white people could ride?

When I was in basic training, I met a white guy from deep south Alabama that had only seen black people on TV, never had met any in person. But damn, he was from the sticks.

Obi,

He wasn't from the sticks, I know the sticks! I'm from northern Canada. I grew up in a lily white mining town, I live in Barrington, which makes white look colourful Hey I love America, the great melting pot, so many people of different backgrounds is what makes this country great And assumptions are made from a geo political background, which is what people fall back on to come to a certain conclusion, when they have insufficent information to come to a valid conclusion, besides it hard to see a person under a helmet leathers gloves, remember where I from if you don't dress to ride, you freeze. Hope to ride with you soon

I'm glad to see all the real people have represented themselves, here, on the board.

Since it's obvious that racial makeup is a dead issue, here, it's probably a dying issue in the rest of our country, at least to those of us that can escape fear and self loathing.

We see color because it's who we are. We should see color. It just depends on what we do with our judgements that matter. Black people should be proud that they are black and know that there is a bond. When I walk into some place and I figure out that some person I'm talking to is Russian, then I sort of connect with them and the conversation becomes more personable. When I pull into a gas station and I see a guy on a bike, I might walk over and talk for a minute or two...because there's that connection there. I guess it's not always about race or ethnicity, but ya get my drift.

Brian,

Yes, I am black. But, remember, there is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, in the Body. Oddly enough so is anyone else who was born prior to the late sixties that has 1/64 African heritage! But, if you see me you would definitely see a black man! Dutch last name, black man.

Biggy,

I have to say you're right about group identification. I met a guy from the British Isles. I didn't know where he was from. I saw him at a gas station with a ZX-7 set up for racing and I immediately began to converse with him about the bike and the track to which he was headed. But, race or ethnicity, seem to be the most immediate attractor of individuals to a group.

Rick,

I'm glad you never noticed that you didn't see black people riding. That really says something much more positive about your character, if not peripheral vision.

Brian, are you white? I guess I never noticed before, all I really see when I see you is your Christian glow.

Speaking of color there was a GREAT program on PBS this weekend talking about Race After looking at this program it made me rethink my views on race. We as humans need to associate thing, peope, bikes, etc. into groups. I guess we think better if we can group thing together.

Also for me, my Christian walk governs how I see every one. Jesus came that all might be saved. Beside, I judge each person on their own merits not on group merits.

That's right, Two Bill's are better than none.
