The Adler Plant'arium is having a function for this event:

http://www.adlerplanetarium.org/special/index.shtml

February 20, 2008
7:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
A total eclipse of the Moon will occur in the early evening hours on February 20, 2008. In the Chicago area, the eclipse will begin at 7:43 p.m. (CST) and end at 11:09 p.m. Join us for a fun event, cloudy or clear!
Enjoy free telescope viewing and access to the Doane Observatory!
Viewing the Eclipse
Weather permitting, telescopes will be available from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. to view the eclipse, and astronomers and education staff will be on hand to answer your eclipse questions.
The Adler's Doane Observatory will also be open for eclipse viewing, weather permitting, from 7:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome to view the eclipse in the Observatory on a first come, first served basis. Advance reservations and/or tickets are not available for visiting the Observatory. If visitor volume is high, we cannot guarantee that all patrons will be able to enter the Observatory during totality.
If weather and technical conditions permit, a live webcast of the eclipse from another location around the globe will be presented in the Adler's education classrooms.

I hung out with my 7 year old after swim practice in my truck (so she wouldn't freeze) with a window down and my spotting scope eating burgers. She managed to be interested for over 1/2 hour. Not bad for Ms Hyperchild. Saturn was really shining! I should have dragged out the big scope to look at the rings.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

It was gorgeous! It was the 1st time i've ever seen it. My gf even gave me a bj in the car for being 'romantic' and taking her to see it, and waiting in line, freezing my ass off, just to gaze at it.

Yeah, I was dashing in and out every 10 mins to check out the progress (dont have east facing windows). Pretty cool to see a big bright full moon getting covered by the Earth's shadow and then glowing slightly red... very cool
