Work at Home job questions

I am looking to possibly get out of teaching and would like to know where to look for some legit work at home positions. I don't want to do the stupid home party stuff. I would like some sort of office type work to do out of the house. Before I went into teaching I was an Admin Assistant for two companies completing various reports, etc. so I have office experience.

I see a bunch of bullshit work at home jobs out there, where would I look for a real one?

If you're a quick and accurate typer: medical transcription or billing entry...

Sounds like old school.. but there's a never ending need.

Everyone Exaggerates

search for tele-commute jobs. Same thing, might lead to more results. Also, would you consider spending some time in the office?

If you want to spend more time @ home with the little one, would you consider a position that you work like 3 12 hour days and then your done for the week?

turn the bars left and go right; that just isn't right

I think I would. I need to weigh my options and see what would work with daycare and all.

There is a decent magazine called either Home Business or Home Based Business that is on most magazine or book shelves in stores. This is not the same as Entrepenuer magazine - just a bunch of pay-to-adverise ads in this one.

One of the best resources I know of is the small business section in Crain's Chicago Business. They have a pretty good search field that can offer you some insight into working from home. Mucha is a great reporter / writer in this area.

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

Those ads for medical billing are a scam...one of my wife's family members got suckered into paying the $500 for "training" and materials, and the business would start rolling in, but of course it didn't.

I told her she'd be better off learning the system and market the same package for $100 less and sell it to other suckers.

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"
