this sport is getting expensive....

i'm starting to add up the "pre-season" costs and i'm not liking the outcome!

so far i have gotten/ordered...

front and rear pit bull stands
sprocket and chain sets for both the 1k and 600
oil change stuff for all 6 bikes & atv
clutch, clutch cable for the 600
choke cable for the 600
crash cage for the 600 (a must have when you let ur GF ride the bike)
3rd gear w/gaskets ex for the 600
brakes for the 600

and there is still a bunch of stuff i need to get b 4 spring hits

pshh the price we pay to do the things we want

stands are a one time fixed cost though, surprised you didnt already have them. you'll get your money's worth out of them over the next 30 years.

My buddy rides a hog...
I remember him constantly bitching abouyt how expensive harley stuff was... 300$ for a pipe etc....

First time he saw a Ducati Performance catalog his eyes bugged out of his head... He thought 300$ for a full exhaust was a complete rip off... Look on his face when he saw the 3500$ termi's... priceless...

What's the point in wadding up a finely tuned machine of precision and aerodynamics on the way home from the bar, when you can just wad up a bike with a $300 pipe?

I don't think that the sport is "Getting" expensive but more like "always has been" expensive

I'm not a hater either. I'm jealous that they get to ride nekkid too.

I am a hater of the middle aged business man who gets the newest harley with the brand new leather harley jacket though. I don't know what irks me about them, I'm on a new bike with a new jacket too.

yeah this sport costs money, you just have to deal with it. i'll probabably drop $7k on it this year and thats nothing compared to what the racers are going to drop. just ask spyder what he's expecting to drop this year.

Where can you get all that done for 400? Parts alone are over $300.

Well luckily I don't pay for gas in my car and I always camp so that helps out.

Track fees were about $3k, but I bought credits at a discount so it probably only cost me about $2,600.

Tires are about $360 a set for new ones so if I get 3 track days out of each I'll be spending $2600 on tires. I hope to run takeoffs to same money on them.

Gas for the bike $30 a day = $660 total

then the rest of the crap like oil, fluids, pads, and filters should be under $1k. sooooo

$1k + $660 + $2600 + $2600 = $6,900.

I'm sure something will come up that will cost me a little more, but that's a decent estimate. I didn't include food since I'd be buying food anyways. Hell think of all the money I'm saving by no going to the bars in chicago all those weekends

Feel free to send a check anytime, although i can't guarantee it won't be spend in dirty hookers in singapore next week.
