Great idea and the setup is pretty painless. I'm not sure it'll take off for awhile but it's a good idea if not just for the voicemails.

I hope Google is going through with their plans to make a cell phone. I was reading about a concept of it before, and it would put the iphone to shame.

I just had them reserve a number for me on the site:

Your Reservation Has Been Confirmed

Thank you for your interest in GrandCentral. We will let you know as soon as we open up our service to more users. At that time you will be able to choose the specific phone number that you would like to use. We will make all possible efforts to ensure there are numbers in the area code or city you have selected, but there may be some areas where we won't have coverage. We'll do our best.

This is actually an old idea. I had this service from ameritech back in 95. I had one number and I could go in and route my calls directly to my cell phone by either a schedule, or by direct command. I could also have my calls go to my pager and they would wait on hold with music till I dialed in and was connected to them. I used it for about a year, back in the day I had a car phone in my car, a car phone in my truck, a cell phone, pager office phone and two home numbers. so this service was great. But now who the hell has all that any more. I now have 2 cell phone numbers, one for work and one for personal and thats it. Rewarming this old idea seems like a waste.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
