Post Dr visit post 2nd op.

Some of you may know that I busted up my wrist at work last year. I had my second surgery on Feb 19th and had my Dr appointment today so I thought I'd share.

The first thing the Doctor wanted to address (without me even asking) was why the surgery took 2 hours longer than scheduled... The ligament that was getting replaced had gotten so bad that the bone in the middle had shifted out of place and it's really tricky to get lined up when it does that.

Here's some pics from today for your viewing pleasure.

Pic 1: Sliced straight across the back of my wrist. The Yellow gauze is where the pin goes in
Pic 2: Nicely bruised and swollen.
Pic 3: Getting new gauze for the pin.
Pic 4: X-ray from today to make sure the bones are still lined up.
Pic 5: My new cast... specially made for stealth.

Hopefully this will take care of it all for good. 2008 riding season is probably a write-off but should be back in 09. Nights are the worths part... Norco helps with the pain for about 2 hours then I have to tough it out for an hours until the next pill. Nights it wakes me up 3-4 times.

Heal up.

Keep it elevated at night if you can. That should help the pain, but probably only a little.

I slept with a second pillow, sort of bear hugging it. I'm a side sleeper.

Yeah, it happen on the job in March... Moving coin shipment (at the bank, about 250lbs) I was stupid and didn't want too make multiple trips. Wrist disagreed. This was a week before they announced that they were closing my branch and we were all getting laid off.
I started working at another place doing contract work. Ive been off work since 8/28 when I had the first surgery and have since lost my contracting gig because they couldn't wait any longer.
