this makes getting rid of comcast and getting a dish a little more appealing. i am tired of paying the outrageous costs for comcast.

and sorry for the ... but how do you dish owners get your internet?

if you already have cable for internet, you just call them up to cancel. they'll ask you why and you just say that DSL is now available in your area and it's about a quarter of the price. the customer service rep will pause as they thumb through their customer retention notebook and then offer you something like $19.95/month for service for the next 6 months

after 6 months is up and they go to switch your rates, just tell them again that DSL is cheaper and you're going to switch over to that. it's a crapshoot if they extend the offer or not. if they don't then just switch over to DSL.

repeat this with your DSL provider and switch over to cable for internet services.

I know people that have been doing this for 3+ years now...

Do you know if you can get episodes of HBO shows like The Wire early with DirectTV's OnDemand like you can with Comcast?

I have had Dish Net for many years and never any problems and they have good pricing and better DVR's then Direct.

Please explain your opinion

We've had this discussion before I'm pretty sure you own stock in them.

They don't have NFL Sunday Ticket. Enough said!

I've had DirecTV for a long time and have been very happy with it also. Better DVR's, why do you think that? I like mine better than the TiVo one I had before it.

I just hooked up the On Demand feature (which is still in beta) to my network. I only played around around with it for a few minutes and it is very basic. I did download a movie and it took about an hour to download. The jury is still out on this feature for me.

well discuss it again...cause im tired of comcast prices...and i want to go to dish...my internet is dsl and im paying only 10 bucks a month for it cause they keep dropping the price on it...it started out at 25 a month, then 19 a month after i bitched...and now its 10 a month...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

In hour to download? That doesn't sound right. I may look to move back to Direct T.V. when I move and the ticket is a big reason. It would be nice if their on-demand service was on par with Comcast. Comcast has just about every free movie on every channel you get ready to go plus weekly series, par per view and so on.

What about the phone line? I have no need for a land line right now and Direct T.V. use to always hassle me about this. I could have the ethernet hooked up to the main box.

They don't make you have a phone line anymore. The ondemand will never work as fast as comcasts as coax carries more bandwidth then either the satellite signal or the ethernet connection.

DirecTV already has a bunch of pay-per-view channels. This On Demand feature is new and is still in Beta testing.
