New to board with IPass ???'s

Hi all, I'm somewhat new to the board (I've been reading post secretly spying on all of you).
Really, I just figured I might as well participate if I'm coming here and reading. So HELLO ALL.

But my question is about the I-pass.
I know I've read existing threads, but anyways....
I was on I88 tonight and exited Highland with my Ipass in my pocket and the F'ing thing didn't reconise me. So here I am, like an ass waving the stupid thing in the air to no avail until I just go.
I ride 88 alot and go thru the york toll and never noticed any issues. This was the first time I had to go thru the tolls where you are supposed to stop.
Anyone have this issue? And what do you do in the situation?

Blake

I use my IPass mostly on the Kennedy, but have only once had to remove it from my windshield (in a manual / IPass lane) to get it to register the toll.

welcome!

I've found that in the gates, you need to pull up fairly slow ot get the system to trigger. If you pull too far forward... it's too late...

Overall it's a shitty system.... whatever type of RFID tags or whatever is in the box is directionlly sensitive. I've had good luck by attatching it to my windscreen with Velcro. It migh also work mounted to the tank or in the tail upside down.

I've borrowed my wife"s I-pass a couple times and stuck it to the windshield with duct tape. I took it back off as soon as I got home so it didn't sit in the sun and get gooey. But it worked just fine since it was at the same angle as a car windshield.

My wife thinks we're a bunch of Top Gun wannabes with our call signs, so for future reference, I'm Roger

I've used it on mine. In fact i need to go get some of that velcro so I can put it back on. It wont work in your pocket. you need to have it out and mouted to something with unobstructed view. plus it helps to have it visible so that if it doesnt work, they at least see you had one on the video, and hopefully wont mail you a ticket.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Thanks all.
I've just been fighting putting the velcro on, but I think that's the direction I'll go. I fear forgetting the unit hanging there when I stop somewhere.

I just stick it in the map cover of my tank bag and I just blast through on i88.

Sometimes the little purple tiki light changes to yellow and sometimes not. I'm never sure if the damn thing works but I still ride on through.

Last week I forgot the bag and had to reach into my jacket and pull it out. I'd like to see them send me the photo violation for that one.

Yellow light means your account balance is below $10 and it will refill at midnight.

I've noticed, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I put it in the map holder on my tank bag.

I haven't used the ipass on a bike yet (umm, since I haven't had one on the road since getting it) but in the cage, often it doesn't register. I say screw 'em. If their system doesn't work and they don't get their money, not my problem. I know of several instances where it's not triggered, and I have never been contacted about it.

Silly thing is, I have it exactly in the type of position they specify on the windsheild. So I've done nothing wrong. I really wouldn't worry about it, is what I guess I'm getting at.

Hi troll, you really ought to get your bike running

But yeah, today I had mine in my pocket and I think it registered once out of maybe 5-6 tolls. Screw em!
