8mm tapes

I used to have an 8mm video recorder and still have a bunch of old tapes laying around that I have no idea whats on them.
How can I watch them to see if theyre worth saving?

Most of you clowns probably dont even know what 8mm is

There is an adapter you can have, to make it playable in a VHS player, if you still have one of those (unless you have digital 8mm tapes - than you need the camcorder to watch them)

Time to dust of the home made snuff film? I always suspected that Machine character was loosely based on you...

Not true. Those adapters are for the mini VHS format that they had not 8mm.

EDIT: The format is VHS-C not mini VHS

Try finding someone who still has an 8mm camcorder and borrow it. I doubt they will still be using it.

I would take them somewhere to have them converted or something but there may be...how do I say...some *home movies* on one or more of them.

There are a few places in Naperville that do this:

Fodeo 630-245-1112 Ogden and Naper Blvd ($40 set up, $0.20/ft ($10 small reel)) and Memory Keepers 630-717-0278, 216 s main st, Naperville ($10/50ft).

I used VideoMac in Chicago. (312) 427-1270, 223 W Erie (1 block past Ohio) , Chicago, IL 60605. They transferred over 100 8mm films to DVD for me going back to 1931 including some Disney reels that weren't copywritten. They do slide film for $1.25/slide which I thought was excessive and VHS transfers at $45/hour. They have all the random equipment you could imagine.

Look on ebay for an old 8mm player.
