Kim and I said goodbye to our eldest dog...

We put our first and oldest dog, Bolo, to sleep yesterday. We got him in college during the summer of 1995. Our rotty would have been 13 years old next month. He had developed multiple health issues over the past year and we did everything we could but his condition turned for the worst about 2 weeks ago. Its the first time either of us had to make such a heartbreaking decision for a pet. He will be sadly missed as a loved family member.

Bolo was an alpha puppy that grew into a guardian and best buddy. He was energetic and ready to play at all times. He especially enjoyed being around our family and friends. He was the kind of dog that was so cuddly and well mannered that people loved to sit and pet him. We are blessed with so many fond memories that he had given us.

God speed Bolo. We love you and miss you...

Sorry for your loss. Losing a pet feels like someone ripped your heart out. Just remember all the good times that he gave you.

Sorry to hear it. Never easy.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

I've been there - it's a horrible thing to have to do.

Hang in there guys. I was cleaning out the basement yesterday and found an unopened box from when we moved 3 years ago. It had a bunch of pics of Bo and Jess, a Golden and German Shepherd that we put down on the same day. It brought a smile to my face. You'll get there too...

Kim and Nolan...my thoughts and sympathies are with you. No matter how old they are... it's never enough time with them, it's never easy to say goodbye.

Nicole

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
