Interesting Goldwing Thread

So there is this ongoing battle between trike and 2-wheeled Goldwings. Yellow Wolf is famous for his ability to rock his goldwing like a sportbike:

So there are always comments about how a trike just can't go to the edge quite like the standard 2-wheeled wings can. Read this thread. It's pretty good.

Awesome. The guy in the vid sure makes that Wing seem like a sportbike though!

That's nuts!

I'm with Ody, wrong tool for the job.

A trike isn't a bike and shouldn't be put in the same context, trikes are weak.

How exactly was his goldwing the "wrong tool for the job"? What job are you talking about? He rode that thing up to deals gap from FL on a regular basis and would cover thousands of miles in a week. He kicked ass on that thing and could hang with most sport bikes in the tight stuff...we are talking about STREET riding here, right?

Trikes are lame as hell in general but it's great that people with no legs etc. etc. can still get out and "ride".

+1

A superior rider uses superior judgment to avoid situations that require superior skill.

Yellow Wolf films people in the Gap. He has cameras (front, rear, etc) and other equipment mounted on that bike. I think he can even burn the DVD right after the ride for you.

That guy can embarass a LOT of riders. And if you lived there and hit that road as many times a week as he does, you could too.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Judging by the peg scraping, I'd venture to say about 50-60 mph. Speed limit is 45.

If that is Deals Gap then the speed limit is 55 on the NC side and 35 on the TN side. Not much of it is on the NC side.

The beauty of all the roads in NC is that they are 55. Hell, sometimes you can't even go 55 in the corners.

Except for the Blueridge Parkway. That road is 45 MPH except for the sections where there are parks and then its 25 MPH for a short distance.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

When pushing the limit on a Goldwing there is a pretty fine line between balls and brains.

Yellow Wolf is a nut. He has the same setup I have on mine regarding suspension - Traxxion. That is the only way he can do that on this bike. I would never even attempt to do that on a stock wing. Still crazy none-the-less. Too much traffic on those roads to be driving like that in my opinion.

I got a chance to talk to that guy two years ago at the Gap. He's a hell of a nice guy.

I didn't get a chance to see him ride the Gap, but he passed us on the road when we were returning to our camp site at the state park down there. I was riding two up with my wife and all I saw was bright ass lights weaving left and right. I flagged him by. He then passed my friends who were out of my sight and they just laughed and said the guy is "Certifiable". lol

Funny thing is, the guy has never caused a problem...but he has helped a shit ton of people out and just generally put in a lot of effort to make the road a safer place.

He sold his goldwing a while back by the way and does not make videos any more.
