Dog Boarding Recommendations

I am going to Wisconsin overnight for a wedding and need to find a place for the pup. He is my little boy and the thought of boarding him really makes me nervous, so I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a great place in the western suburbs. He's very social and loving, and doesn't like to be in his crate all day. We're in Naperville. He doesn't have his kennel cough vaccine, either. Does anyone know if it matters how far in advance they need to receive this if he's boarded?

Thanks!

Orchard Rd animal clinic. It's in Montgomery. It's a long way from me but My wife works for a vet and they are the only people we trust with our dogs.

If it is just overnight you could probably find a fellow dog owner to watch him. Maybe someone from here. I had a really bad experiance with Naperville animal hospital/ Elmhurst animal care center, so I would not recommend either of those. He will have to have his kennel cough as well as being up to date on all other vaccines. When are you going?

On a serious note, I think that if he is too young or doesn't have kennel cough shot, they might not take him.

They usually need the kennel cough shot at least 48 hours prior to bording.

id say if its for a night to let somebody on here do it. Depending when and how he gets along with other dogs i might be able to.

You DO need to make sure the dog has all its vaccinations before you board. If you call your vet they can tell you what needs to be done.

I don't know a good kennel in your area, though. Personally I don't board unless I absolutely have to. Can you try to bring him along? It's good experience to teach them to travel well.

I've had mine at Border Terrace on W Ogden and Apolda Kennels in Aurora (On E NY Street).

They'll both give shots if you don't have them already.

Dogs were just fine in both places and used them multiple times.

You can still walk a short board if you are light enough, that dog prolly only weighs 70lbs...

Seriously, since it is only for one night see if someone from the board can do it or someone nearby can stop by to check on him in his "own environment". I do dogsitting for friends of mine when they go out of town. Since I have a roommate for my dog and cats, it is easy to go spend a few days at their house with their dog(s). Let me know if you need anything Kelly. I'm off all weekend and wouldn't mind watching your pup for ya!

+1 if it's only one night, just have someone check up on him to let him out to do his business and fill up his food and water bowl. Done it a bunch of times with my two dogs.

I'm using a place in Roselle called Pals for Pups http://www.palsforpups.com/

I just completed an obedience class with one of the owners and I like the way she treats dogs. I took Max there for a day of fun and he loved it. They let the dogs all play together during the day with adult supervison and also do some other exercises with them. I didn't want to leave Max in a kennel, but I don't consider this place a kennel. We are going to board him there for 4nights. I think it is better than someone "watching" him because that person will be working from 7am until 5:30pm and he would be alone in his crate all that time. They do need their kennel cough shot and the cost is $42 a day.
