snow damage - crap!

so I wake up this morning and see that the village got a little overzealous with their high speed snowplowing last night. At least half of my cedar fence has been knocked down, snapped, cracked... *#@&$^%

I see street snow thrown into the yard a good 25' beyond the fence line which is already 16' from the curb so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they were driving like idiots last night.

The funny thing is that enough people have bitched during the last few seasons so that they drive really slow down the street when they're going by our mailboxes so at least they've learned not to go nuts there. (I live on a corner lot if you haven't figured that out yet)

In the past however, they tell everybody that they're exempt from reimbursing people for mailbox damage done by snowplowing.

This is going to be a few $$$$ to fix. Should I just fill out a homeowners insurance claim and call it a day or go sue happy on them?

Why would you go sue happy on them? That's your homeowners insurance job... File a claim and let them go after the plows, that's what you pay for.

because insurance companies aren't in the business of losing money. claims made against them are recovered by increased premiums moreso than chasing after a govt body

Ernie...call the city first....get no satisfaction, then call the news people. Give the city a chance to correct the situation.

Correct path.

dont know why people are being so pissy, just go out and get some photos RIGHT now.

then on monday contact the city and let them know the situation and go from there.

That sucks. Hopefully the city will take care of this for you so you don't have ot make a claim on your insurance.

Charge the city with failure to report a private property accident. Maybe they will get some time for this.

Go run their fence over in front of their garage, but do it at night!
