When we took the carb off and I saw the front intake filled with gas I was like "Oh man! We're in trouble"

The front carb needle and seat was sticky so I'm hoping that was part of your issue. Both low speed pilot jets were clogged as well. The front float bowl was sticking allowing gas to poor down into the cylinder. If it starts leaking gas again you'll have to buy new needle and seats.

Thanks for the props man and thanks for the brewskies.
