Heading down to Evansville

Next Friday I am heading down to Evansville. Going to take the Goldwing for its' suspension upgrade but I'd rather not slab it down 57 to 64. Looking at the map, I see Rte. 1 going along the Il/In border. Anyone taken that road? Or, if not, any "scenic" suggestions?

1 is hardly scenic/exciting. mostly flat and stright thru a lot of small farm towns.

if you have extra time, cut over into IND and take 65 down to franklin. good roads from franklin to bloomington, and they continue to get better as you go south. it'll definitely add some time to the trip, but it's worth it.

Nothing. There was nothing wrong with the steam train or horse and carriage either. Everything must improve, evolve, grow.

YOU don't have a stock bike, by-the-way

BH is probably right. Slab it down 65 to Columbus, I suggest taking IN-46 west to Bloomington, then maybe 446 south toward Bedford, then pull up some maps and find a nice twisty scenic route from there.

46 and 446 are my local twisties here. They're good, fun roads. Be careful w/ the speed, particularly in Brown County along 46. The Sheriffs there are pretty brutal, partially because so many squids from here in Bloomington kill themselves on that road.

Attorney-at-Law: Doing my part to contribute to the downfall of western society.

Tend to agree here...depends on how much out of the way you want to go...we have blasted through that whole area...

Lots of LEO on the main SR's...

dont forget IN-450...south of Bedford...little more narrow, it runs into Shoals, which if you pick up US-150 into either West Baden/Paoli. That may be too far east for ya, but I would take IN-56 south to US-231 and head for I-64 West.

WATCH OUT FOR SPRING PLANTING and GRAVEL!!!!

Lots of mud tracks and loose gravel in the turns.

The mud is worse than normal right now with all the rain we've gotten over the last week.

Bummer...you dont happen to know a few Bedford/Shoals riders do you?

Chad and or his brother Tyler...600cc riders...and a few of their friends from the Paoli area. Miss those guys...they tend to meet at a little diner in Shoals at the 50/150 interchange

Cant wait to get back down there...
