Illegal to have a for sale sign in chicago?

So i took the alero to work one day and I've just got for sale signs in the window. Well I came outside to fill the meter and low and behold I had a ticket on it. I figured it was for the meter and paid it no mind. I then found out its a ticket for having my vehicle "displayed for sale"....

obviously im going to argue it because its a complete load of shit and im tired of filling daley's pockets for any stupid new law he decides to make this week.

Here's my question though for my arguement and maybe im missing something. Here is the Ordinance:

9-80-080 (a)
It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle upon any roadway for the sole purpose of displaying the vehicle for sale. The vehicle shall be subject to vehicle impoundment under Section 9-92-030(c). Any person that violates this subsection shall be fined $100.00. Each day the vehicle remains in violation of this subsection shall constitute a separate and distinct offence for which a separate penalty shall be imposed.

My issue with it is they say for the "sole reason" meaning i parked it there specifically to sell it and its not. I drove the car to work and I don't live in the city so I was also going to push the issue it is NOT illegal to put a for sale sign in my windows where I reside.

Anybody fought a ticket like this before?

Well the other reason it concerns me is I have the for sale in vinyl on the gsxr's windscreen and thats usually my work bike (just incase somebody knocks it over or it gets stolen). Im just debating if i should take that off there now or not since apparantly its illegal to sell anything in Daleytown unless you pay him first.

You may have a good argument. It's worth a shot.

Good argument...and I bet if you go to court, and have some hard facts with you (You live in Alsip, not the city, the car is parked there for work etc) the Da isn't go to prosecute it...it'll get thrown out.

Goodluck.

I received the same ticket at a mall. I always park out in the open. Came back from shopping and there it was. Called the # when I got home. Politely explained the events, and was told to disregard.

This was not in Daley kingdom though.

While shopping in a supermarket, or while having it parked in the back of their lot obviously hunting for attention.

Ding Ding Ding!

You can't use the public way to sell a vehicle. Park it in a lot. The suburbs are worse than Chicago when it comes to this, especially Naperville cops who've got nothing better to do.

Folks just forget that in Chicago you can't do it because the street is like everyone's driveway. Hell in most burbs you can't even park on the street so you'd prolly have received 2 tickets in Oak Park, Glenview, or Naperville depending on the street in question.

Well I found out Its illegal to in my suburb but they are more definitive with what they say. So needless to say I guess its autotrader for me. That or a creative way to have people see it but not obvious enough that cops see it from a mile away.

Sec. 19-92. Parking vehicles for sale or selling merchandise from vehicle prohibited.
It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle upon any street for the purpose of displaying it for sale, or to park any vehicle upon any business street from which vehicle, merchandise is peddled.

I don't know what you are asking mark, but I'm guessing that it will be hard to sell that car if you still have all those mods on it for a premium.

Doog luck, and thank god you are ditching that thing.

What are you asking for the Gixxer? If it takes this long to sell, you may want to lower the price some. Besides once you get sponsored, you will get a free trackbike.

Honestly on the alero i tell people im open to whatever they offer. And we work on if they want everything on it or not which effects the price.

The giggy has been for sale over winter so i figured it wasnt gonna sell right away. But honestly now that i take it to work ive been getting an avg of 5 calls a day on it, the main problem is people that call only wanna spend $1500-$2000 which Id rather keep it.

Price on teh giggy is 5k...i have no reason to lower it because I'm not forced to get rid of it. I still enjoy riding it, if i dont get what i want for a bike that has all new everything there's no sense in giving it away.

The lowballers don't count. Shit I send out 5-10 lowball offers a day on average.

$5K, shiet that's a little steep. No wonder it hasn't sold yet.

Only one buyer really? I thought it took a team of investors to buy an 8 year old bike. This bike buying and selling business is new to me.
