Props to the Police

Since it seems the only threads referencing the police I seem to read on this forum (and other m/c forums) is bashing the police for getting a speeding ticket and harassing riders... which I'm not saying doesn't happen, I'm not naive... I thought it would be good to talk about when they do a good job as well. And just remember that for everything someone complains about us not doing there are things that we are doing that you don't know about.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...,4678803.story

It took less than 48hrs *insert TV show joke here* for NPD to solve and catch these people. I was working that night and it was clusterf^#k from the beginning but a good job was done from the first responding officer all the way up to investigations and evidence techs.

So kudos to my fellow boys in blue for a job well done!

You're right in general, but this is not entirely true. I've seen a few threads praising the police and, heck, last year I even posted one myself (stupid as it may be).

Yup, I posted a good thread about the naperville popo's last season when they chased those assholes through downtown. I even wrote a letter to their chief and got them some praise.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Wow....people usually dont go so far to write letters....that's awesome! I've gotten some "thank you" phone calls from people but that's as far as it goes, eventhough it still means a lot. I have received only one letter of thanks, and that means a lot more becuse it gets put into my personnel file.

shoot, sqrly didn't even have to write words. Muskrat, Criminalgrrl I'm sure everyone appreciates what both of you and most PO have done to make this world a better place. That said I've had some seriously messed up experience with cops. Granted I shouldn't have misbehaved to get myself in the situation to begin with I still didn't deserve to be called a m'fin Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan lookin' karate chop havin fried rice eatin chinky eyed chink by more than a few either. It's simple, the police have power and power corrupts some. Power can and will corrupt anyone. This doesn't make corruption acceptable especially from the ones who are the first ones to judge corruption to begin with. I don't know if that makes sense to you or not. I've personally met both you and Jen and I can tell neither of you are the nasty little abused in high school and must now abuse others type of cops but unfortunately they are out there and there are a fookin ton of em.

It is well known that sportbikers have a bad stigma as speed loving outrageous corner speed carrying hooligans. It is also well known that there are some real asshole cops out there as well, this I know from personal experience. Fact is people are people and people make mistakes and have faults.

I just want to personally say that I appreciate what you and other officers do out there dealing with the dangerous and what not. But PO's will always carry a stigma with them as well so don't be offended or get defensive on behalf of the mistakes that your fellow officers have made. We know you're good people.

If you'd seen this particular event, you'd understand why he wrote the letter.
