OptOutPrescreen

I just got a friendly e-mail from my realtor about a website called OptOutPrescreen.com, where you can remove yourself from those generous credit card offers that everone gets in the mail. Ever since I paid of a few debts and raised my credit score, I have gotten almost a dozen CC offers ever 2 weeks. I'm getting sick and tired of the garbage and want to eliminate this. Has anyone registered for one of these types of websites or has used Opt Out before?

YEah that is pretty bad ass. I used to get like 3 credit card offers in the mail per day. Ever since I signed up, I rarely get any personal mail.

I think that's what the website was called. I can double check. I do not get ANY credit card offers or any kind of sales stuff. It's kind of nice not having so much crap to go through and throw out.

The better way to do it is to call up the credit agencies and request a fraud alert on your account. You'll receive zero offers of any kind for six months at a time, plus it adds a little extra security.

Sounds easy enough but doesn't that cause a headache in the event you do want to take a loan out for something & you'll have to keep a schedule of when you called + when you will need to call again. Also can this hurt your credit score but continually calling the agencies to report a “fraud alert”?
