Hackers get into bigbox stores websites

Don't goto target wal-mart and usa today for starters.

According to both a follow-up post by Danchev to his own blog and analysis conducted by researchers at Symantec Corp., hackers have inserted IFrame code into the saved search results of an unknown number of legitimate sites. People who visit those sites and use the compromised search tool are redirected by the IFrame code to rogue security software and bogus codec sites, which in turn download malware to the victimized Windows PCs

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Over the years of fixing numerous computers for malware, adware, and viruses, I have learned one thing. There is no such thing as a website that is so lethal that you can get infected just by going to it. That includes emails that are just opened (not the attachments, the actual email). The user has to do something in order for that to happen. It can be as small as clicking OK on an annoying popup window or command box. When in doubt, CTRL+ALT+DELETE and end the task in the task manager.

I suggest having an active defense on every computer that touches the internet. Stay away from the popular ones like McAfee & Norton, since they are always in the limelight to try and be hacked. This is the one Ive been using for years and would recommend it to my worst enemy (thats how great it is).

... ok I dont have 15 posts to post up the url. Just go to kaspersky.com and look at Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0. Its well worth it.

Thats ironic, I'm typing this on an iMac and I'm thinking why the hell doesn't this window go full screen. Lack of right click is really annoying. There was a story on Digg a while back where this guy hacked into OS X quite quickly and easily.

Yeah its possible to hack Macs, but the problem is there is no money in that region of the computer world. Its all in PCs...

Wrong, do some research on remote exploit vulnerabilities. IE and Outlook has had hundreds of them over the years, none of which require human interaction. Take the DCOM exploit used by Blaster for example, it required no more human interaction than having a computer connected to a network.

Wrong again, there has not been one single remote exploit in Norton or McAfee in the last five years that I have observed. Viruses however will occasionally take steps to disable any antivirus running on a system, but they fail at 'hacking' into them.

I stand..... err... sit corrected. Well take mine with a grain of salt then. I was speaking from 10 years of browsing through many questionable sites and receiving numerous emails with viruses... I still stand by my Kaspersky recommendation though. Ive had both McAfee and Norton and didnt really like either of them.
