Life member here...The AMA is an organization that is in transition. The ultimate goal seems to be a more responsive member services organization with a renewed focus on Government relations and motorcyclists rights.
Combined with the efforts of local organizations such as A.B.A.T.E and the Washington based Motorcycle Riders Foundation, the AMA has been leading or assisting in many of the issues that can and will affect your ability to enjoy motorcycling as a whole in the future.
One of the big issues that the AMA has been taking the point on for several years now is health insurance descrimination. I won't go into detail here, but I would urge everyone to check out their website and bone up on the issue AND to contact their Congressman to support the AMA's position.
Some of the news about changes at the AMA have sparked controversy and speculation. As a supportive and active member, I believe these changes are for the good, and some of them are long overdue.
I plan to be involved in alot of info and discussion about the AMA and it's role in motorcycling etc. here on CLSB as time goes on.
