Houston, Tx what do you say???

So the job search has progressed further. Internally, NC is a no go. Externally I'm waiting on a job in Arizona to open up. There was however a new possibility internally that opened up being the account manager for HP in Houston, Tx. What are your opinions on it? Is it possible/affordable to live on the bay and commute? Will I become a redneck?

as a former texan i can offer these tidbits.

try high 90's with 85% humidity... gawd... that shiet sucks. your sack will never be completely dry.

but on the bright side, housing is phucking CHEAP. texan woman generally have big hair (not big bellies) and there is NO STATE INCOME TAX!

on a side note: the tracks over there have covered pits for the most part since it gets so phucking hot.

Push Harder for NC! Been to Texas several times and wasn't exactly impressed. Lived in NC for 3 years and would absolutely love to move back!

Fuck, my company contacted me again today about doing this. One of the higher ups wants me on this account. Nothing will be decided for a few months, but I hop I can get out of it.

There are still options for Raleigh, NC, or San Jose, Ca, or maybe even staying here in chi town. Hoping something opens in Denver or Arizona.

Houston is ok, depending on where you go. Besides, nothing is permanent. If you hate it you can always leave. Some people adjust to the weather, others don't. Some people can fit in anywhere, others can't. It's your call.

All I gotta say though is once you move to a cheaper area, it's hard as hell to move back. I couldn't afford to move back to IL if I wanted to. Even if my company paid my relo and gave me a salary adjustment, it would be hard. My TX buck doesn't buy me much up there.

My only beef with TX cities is that they are sickenignly UNdiverse. Austin is annoying as hell, as is Dallas, for that very reason. Houston and San Antonio may not be the prettiest place sin the world, but at least they have diverse populations. In Austin and Dallas, Drama, everyone looks like you. And that's NOT a good thing

Houston is a dirty shit hole cluttered with tons of chemical plants. Way too hot and way too dirty. i consider that city the arm pit of the United States.

Yeah but when you go you're down by the ship channel. It's not too bad up in the woodlands or even out along by cypress.

I'm so pumped. I found out the guy in the job I want just resigned. he's going to a competitor. The job is bad ass and it's in Arizona (where I want to move). I already talked to the hiring manager/ I have a few more influencers I need to talk to, but i think I have a good shot at this. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I liked AZ when I went out there, one of the few places I would consider moving that i've been to.
