LasVegas Trip

WOW!.......... that is what I have to say about Vegas. It was our first trip there and I have to say we had a ball. We rented a Harley... Heritage Soft Tail, for 4 days thanks to a suggestion by Joe ( Kens Bro-In-Law ) it was the best thing we could have done. We put on about 500 miles in the 4 days, that is alot considering we were working against 114 degree record breaking days. The ground temperature hit 147 according to one source. The heat really took a toll on my wife the first day out, she got dehydrated to the point of her hands were curling up and cramping, to almost passing out on the bike as we were riding, keep in mind that there is NO WHERE to get shade in the desert. We were lucky enough to be close to a small town and able to get her help, it was pretty scary. We met up with another couple from Chicagoland at the same town, and they were a big help to us, along with a local park ranger. We were encougraged to drink Gatorade along with our water, and that did the trick. She was a trooper throughout the whole ordeal, and was ready for another ride out the next day. The bike ran wonderfully considering how hot it was, The second day out was a bit cooler, only in the low 100's ... we headed to the mountains for some cooler riding, it actualy dropped into the 70's at 8000 ft.. but as soon as we hit the lower elevations it heated up again...Both of us agree that it is the only way to see Vegas. We went out every evening on the strip, riding the bike.... all eyes watching, it was pretty cool..and I dont mean the weather We ate all the time, which is part of the experience..isnt it ? We also went on a Helocopter ride to the Grand Canyon from Vegas, it was a highlight of the trip. I am adding a few pics from the trip, also to show the people that we met there from Chicago, and the roads that we traveled....Two thumbs UP for Vegas

Yeah Steve it was pretty awsome...... my first time in a Helicoptor.
It was a 2 hour ride from Vegas to the Canyon and back... My wife was Co-Pilot, now THAT I was Jealous of. She had the best seat in the house, although every seat had a full view window top to bottom.

DUDE!!!

I just got back from Vegas last night (first time out there as well).

I rented a Night Train from Eagleriders on Friday and headed out to Red Rock before spending some quality posing time on the strip. I can't belive I didn't check the board first to see if anyone else was gonna be out there! Had I known I might have spent less time rumbling solo through the desert singing bad 80's songs to myself while checking out all the mirages...

Did you see any rattlers on the road while you were out there? I nearly hit one mid-corner (apparently that's a bad thing as they make a slippery mess). I saw a few others on the road and grabbed a few pics. Some wild asses as well (sorry Chris...not that kind) which was trippy.

Anyway, my pics are locked safely in my $5 disposable camera, but suffice to say I was at the same place sans chicks.

Last but not least... say what you want about the "dry heat". That was F'n hot. Uncomfortable, watch your hands melt hot. I still can't belive the air-cooled 'Train took the beating!

Pretty cool...... we also were at Eagle Riders on Friday...the other couple rented their bikes from there, we rented from Escape Eagles. Small world eh? We didnt see any rattlers, I was to worried about dumping this pretty bike on the street . Yeah the heat was pretty intense...the faster I rode the hotter it got. like a blast furnace! I was surprised the bike took that kind of heat, being a Harley and all.. I kept my cell phone in the bags just in case . Sounds like you had a great time as well ! We were on the strip also Friday nite, posing around Fremont Street, did you make it there ? It was pretty cool with the light show and all.

Wtf.. I went to Vegas and all I did was drink, dance, and gamble. I guess I really missed out on some stuff.

Renting a bike out there would probably be awesome though. I'm jealous of that.

Sounds like fun Gregg!

I was in Austin this weekend (nope, Stydie never called), went to Schlitterbahn (largest waterpark in the country) and it was the hottest day..like 104 degrees! Dry heat sucks!

There was also a bike rally there that weekend. Saw some cool bikes on 6th street.

And I have determined that no son of mine will go to a private, predominately male engineering school. I saw more good looking women in 20 minutes at the UT bookstore (soveneigner shopping) than all night at 6th street.
