Internet Music Downloads

Is there a website out there that I can download music and keep the songs "forever"? Help me out with this. I was a member of napster for a while but if you don't sync your device (mp3 player) or renew your subscription the tracks are no longer good. Where do I go, what do I do? I don't want to have to renew or resync my device. I want the songs forever. Is there such a website? Cost? Pros? Cons? Advice?

I rip off my stuff from Ares. Any P2P file sharing network/torrent will do.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Does that cost anything? Can you point me in the right direction or post a link where I should go?

If you are trying to do this the legal way, your best bet is to use Amazon MP3 - http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Down...node=163856011

Amazon MP3 allows you to download a copy of the track you purchase with zero copy protection. This means you can save it where you want and put it on any device you like. No Apple or Napster to tell you what you can and cannot do with it.

If you want to do it the unethical way listen to everyone else.

the awesome thing with Limewire is you can d/l the upgraded (Plus version or w/e) from Limewire. Do a search for programs and Limewire Plus 4.xx or w/e the newest version is and there you have it.

Limewire has destroyed every computer I've ever used it on. Bad, bad idea.

Amazon seems like the real deal but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

I haven't done it yet but I was thinking of just getting the subscription. How much is a subscription. Like $10 a month for unlimited downloads, right? If you normally buy 1 CD a month, you're better off getting the subscription I think. I dont think having a tune forever is really necessary anymore. Becuase most every song will probablly be somewhere on the internet forever. So if you ever need a song, its a download away. I don't see a reason to "own" music anymore.

Is my thinking right, or am I way off here? Just something I was thinking about. This question isnt for nick directly necessarlily. Anyone have any thoughts?

Eric

IMO, there is music that I'd like to listen forever. Good tunes that stick with you. I know I will go through phases of music I like. One time I was into trance/jungle/techno bs. Another time I was into Punk... etc etc. But there are some good ole rock songs that I always revert back to. In an essence you are right Maynard.

I think it has to do with what you were raised on... When my parents were driving me around as a kid, they played the oldies rock station, so that might be why I have more taste for rock.

but my thinking is you still can listen to it forever. But instead of the tune being saved on your MP3 player forever. It's saved on the net forever somewhere. And with unlimited downloads, its readily accessable

I am trying to figure out why some of you all bitch about apple and the copy write protection. What protection I buy from apple all the time and i am able to put it on anything i want. Hell apple gives you the way to convert from aac to mp3. I cant tell you how many times I have borrowed a ipod from a friend and copied all there songs and put it on my ipod.

I think you're only allowed to put it on 5 different devices. I got a pop up while using iTunes that said that. I'm still not 100% sure on how it works though. I want to share some of the songs/albums I've downloaded but I don't know how to do it.

What are you talking about. CONVERT it to mp3 and it removes the BS copy write protection.

Its simple

Take the music from itunes and burn it to a disk in mp3 format. Once its done import back into itunes and poof No protection thus allowing you to put in on anything you want.

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

Wanna take the music off a ipod heres how you do it.

Plug it in no need to open itunes.

double click my computer and look for the ipod listed as a device.

Explore it

makes sure you have hidden files showing etc etc
then browse the folders till you find the music Copy and paste them into a folder. The thing with that tho is the copy right protection is still on it but im sure you can figure out the rest from there

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

I have several different methods on "capturing" data, you just have to google for it. You can try "capturing streams ________ (stream site name)"

Stream - Capture method

Comcast Rhapsody - ReplayMusic

Pandora - StreamRipper

Live - I FORGOT

Shoutcast via Winamp - ReplayMusic

I usually load up a station of my making of artists, hit record, hit play and then go to bed...usually have a ton of songs I like and 10 tons of songs I dont...

I agree that most streams are of lower quality...but if I want LP (not some digitized crap) quality, I will torrent the hell out of it and look for FLAC or LAME recordings.

U can set ReplayMusic up to 320 I beleive...

I normally set mine to 192 to be able to slap more tunes on the MP3 player for the motorcycle...

It is a breach of copyright to transcode music. This means that converting from AAC to MP3 is illegal. It's much better to simply download the file in MP3 format and copy it to whatever device you like, plus it doesn't require you to install iTunes on your computer - even if you want to sync with your iPod.

Seems like 2 steps too many to own the music you bought.

If it was illegal then itunes wouldnt have the option to convert to mp3. Plus I purchased the song therefor I am entitled to save copy and put it on anything i want so as long as i am not making money off it

The key words are back up file

The key words are back up file
Your logic is off. Just because you can rip CD's with most music playing software doesn't mean it's not illegal, it just means it's a feature intended for use in legal situations eg.. your own compositions. Also, a backup in technical terms means a 1:1 copy, which a transcode is NOT.

It is legal to backup and rip music cd's. What's illegal is the circumvention of the copy protection that was set forth in the DMCA. So as long as no copy protection exists on a disc, then you're a-ok making a copy of it for yourself. Legal software that creates these backups such as Nero, will not circumvent the copy protection and will simply tell you that the disc you are trying to burn is copy protected and have a nice day. What's even more strange is that some of the companies have gone out and said it is ok to do this for personal use. Basically this seems to be one big gray area because there's all sorts of violations and exceptions that are being argued in court.

As for the legalities of transcoding music, I'm not sure. So far most of the software I've seen, much of which is available for purchase, claims to convert the files legally.

You guys are far too concerned with the legality of such a petty thing haha. Usenet or fast updated trackers FTW
