I have had mine since last august and still havent todl my mom. I used to have one back in 97 and she hated it. I would love to tell her but her heart is very weak and I do not need her to worry and stress her out. If my moms health was better I would just flat out tell her. Your mom will be upset at first but what can she do, really?

dude, i went through the SAME exact thing last year, i originally took over payments on my friends bike and i didnt tell my parents anything, then they flipped when i brought it home... my mom was crying everyday for like a week, then i ended up returning the bike (thankfully my buddy was cool with it). Then i got my license, and showed my parents i was "responsible" and legal, and after sitting them down and talkin to em, they decided to let me get one... Their original terms of condition were: no riding without gear, no highways, and no riding at night lol... i think you should get your license and sit down have a serious conversation with them, and reassure them you wont speed or be stupid on it.. whatever you do, dont surprise them by bringing it home, anyways good luck with whatever you decide to do!

oh, and if your dad is more lenient on motorcycles id try and talk him first

sometimes you need to run before you can walk

Man up, and put your nuts on the table for god's sake. Your 21 years old. Do mommy and daddy still rule your world?

its an issue of respect, not whos balls are on the table, if your living under their roof you obey their rules, i mean after all, they do provide food and shelter

The majority of all moms won't want their sons/daughters riding a motorcycle. At some point you're going to have to make your own decisions in life and be willing to accept the consequences of those decisions. If you're still at home, she might kick you out if you get one. If your on your own, it should be easier. I think she has a right to know either way. Good luck.

Holy shit.
I agree with PTG.

Seriously, if she helps pay for your food/shelter, you are best respecting her and waiting until you are on your own. If you're out on your own, then just get the bike and don't throw it in her face. My mom hates that I have a bike, but I don't ever talk about it because when I do, she cries.

Then maybe it's time to get out.
Respect goes both ways. At 21 they, the parents, should trust they did a good job in raising you and show themselves that respect by "allowing" you to further develope responsability in life.

It's all a matter of perspective I guess. You call it respect I call it being PUSS-I-FIED.

To each his own, then again I am the one who bought his daughter a rifle for her 1st birtday. A modded power whels for her 2nd and am thinking of a pocket bike for her 3rd.

Well how I got my mom to accept me getting a bike is I just asked her, Then my dad comes home from work and asks my Dad "what do you think of Rich getting a bike" and he replied "O I'm getting one to" lol so the net day we got Harleys.

Then when I got the crotch rocket I bought that when they were on vaction.

I second the "I bought a bike while the 'rents were on vacation". I shopped around for insurance, financing, and gear for a month. Mom and stepdad flew to PL for a week and when they came back, voila. k7-sixhundo sittin in the garage. Mom didnt talk to me for 2 weeks. Afterwards, she decided she really wanted to ride with me. HA
