i have a polish over protective mother that hates everything about bikes. i still haven't broken the news to her that im going to get a bike this summer. and wondering if someone else been in this pickle. plus we had 2 family friends die while they were riding there bikes so that doesn't help a bit

I have had mine since last august and still havent todl my mom. I used to have one back in 97 and she hated it. I would love to tell her but her heart is very weak and I do not need her to worry and stress her out. If my moms health was better I would just flat out tell her. Your mom will be upset at first but what can she do, really?

dude, i went through the SAME exact thing last year, i originally took over payments on my friends bike and i didnt tell my parents anything, then they flipped when i brought it home... my mom was crying everyday for like a week, then i ended up returning the bike (thankfully my buddy was cool with it). Then i got my license, and showed my parents i was "responsible" and legal, and after sitting them down and talkin to em, they decided to let me get one... Their original terms of condition were: no riding without gear, no highways, and no riding at night lol... i think you should get your license and sit down have a serious conversation with them, and reassure them you wont speed or be stupid on it.. whatever you do, dont surprise them by bringing it home, anyways good luck with whatever you decide to do!

oh, and if your dad is more lenient on motorcycles id try and talk him first

The majority of all moms won't want their sons/daughters riding a motorcycle. At some point you're going to have to make your own decisions in life and be willing to accept the consequences of those decisions. If you're still at home, she might kick you out if you get one. If your on your own, it should be easier. I think she has a right to know either way. Good luck.
