Dealerships

I'm looking for a 2006 or newer GSX-R600 right now...(I sold my ZX6R at the end of last season). Anyone have particular dealerships they enjoy dealing with? What about where to get the "best" price I can find?

I bought my old bike privately, so I didn't have to deal with this. I just went and checked out a '06 Gixxer 600 with 1500 miles, they wanted $7500. KBB says it's valued at $6500...but I'm assuming most of the bikes prices are going to be 7-7.5k from a dealer.

Any tips/help is much appreciated, thanks!

LVC is a sponsor. I've bought parts from them before and had no problems.

I'd also recommend staying far far away from Chicago Cycle, where they will do everything in their power to rob you blind.

Buying private may be a good idea if you have cash in hand, FWIW.

I was out at Banzai Motorcycles in Crystal Lake today...they don't seem too bad from my first impression.

I actually came across LVC when I was looking for comparable GSXR's, they had some decent prices. Any CLSB discounts/etc from them?

I didn't like dealing with Bonzai - the salesman gave me the run around about several bikes. He claimed the prices advertised online (for used bikes) wasn't accurate - and he would add like $1,500...making them completely overpriced. Maybe it was because I am a girl.....but I won't go back there...

I know LVC is a sponser here, but their customer service is a little to be desired. My wife was trying on gear, and told the salesman she wanted to buy a jacket. He just told her to look around and ignored her. I was with my daughter looking at bikes and he wanted to sell me one. With some input from clsb, perhaps they will be a little more customer oriented.

Didn't Jerry go from Bonzai in Libertyville to Chicago Cycle and now Bonzai Crystal Lake?

The guy today wasn't bad...there was some confusion on which bike was where etc, mainly because of how they have their shop set up (something like 40 storage garages loaded with bikes across the street...so it seems like the salesman get a little confused about what's where). All in all, it didn't seem too bad...just wondering if there's a "best" place to go really...or if Banzai has some horror stories haha.

I've never once even been able to even get a bolt from them thats in stock. I've ordered gaskets, bolts, engine covers, levers, chains, batteries and sprockets from them, the only thing they ever had in stock was oil filters and they even managed to run out of oil one time I was in there

+1. Absolutely everything is prepay order for parts. I've also got the serious runaround from them as well (without getting in to further details). I'll still use em for convenience purposes only but not for ANY other reason.

I have always enjoyed working with Honda House in Elmhurst on Rt 83. They might have some used GSXR's available.

I personally would stay far away from Banzai. I got a bad vibe when I walked in there. To me it looked like a pull barn with a bunch of stolen shit. E verything in there was covered in dust, brand new bikes with missing mirrors, cracked windscreens, etc.

Plus "King " Jerry runs that shithole.

every dealer is going to have their share of problems (chicago cycle having more than others :P). IMO, unless you're dead set on buying new, get it from a private party. You can usually judge what kind of life the bike has had, and the prices are better. As with any purchase, money talks. You show a private seller 5500 cash and he's asking 6500, you have more haggling power. Dealers always have fees and other garbage to deal with.
