Question - One Bike, Two Riders

So my brother is about to get his M license. He doesn't have much cash so i wanted to let him use my bike this summer.

Question is how do you work the insurance on something like this?

Do I add him to my policy?

Or does he take out his own insurance on the bike?

Any info is appreciated.

The title is in my name. No, I don't have enough money to buy him a bike.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

i believe you would just add him to your insurance policy. if he is a higher risk than you im sure the rate will go up.

Yes because the bike is insured. To be on the safe side I would add him to the policy so you dont have any questions if something were to happen.

You can add him to your coverage if you have State Farm.

As for buying him a bike, I hear that CCC is selling a slightly used HyperMotard for REALLY cheap!

I just went thru this...The insurance has to be in the owners name and the additional rider is added. In addition, both drivers have to reside in the same household.

Thanks for the info. Just wanted to get an idea before I called my insurance company.

They said that the bike is insured regardless of who is riding it. Only trick is if it is involved in an accident and something bad happens, it could come back to me regardless of whether I was riding or not.

Probably best to change the title and have him get his own insurance.

+1, it's going to cost you $100 to get the title transferred too. Just add him as a driver(rider) and have him pay the increase in premium(+50 a month user fee).
