Body: PLEASE READ-PASS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND IF YOU FEEL AS STRONG ABOUT THIS AS ME, CALL DAVE BENGSTON AND LET HIM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL-I PERSONALLY KNOW THESE PEOPLE AND THEY WOULD NOT GO AFTER SOMEONE IF IT WASNíT TRUE-THIS IS HOW MOST BIKERS GET KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE BOYCOTT BENGSTON FARMS
Sue

I have discussed this with several people and they thought that I should put this out here for all to read.

Last Sunday after the ABATE meeting and first responder training class, several of us were riding to Papa Joe's. I can name a few, but not all. Ron was leading the pack. I was next to Ron, we had Jay, Jackie, Max and a few others. We had a few cars behind us as well that witnessed what I am about to explain. If anyone has ridden with Ron, they know that he does not speed and that he is a very careful rider.

We were east bound on Theodore just crossing Rte 30. The right lane merges into the left. We had 6 bikes in a staggered row. There was a car to our right the the BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck behind the car. The car turned right and the BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck proceeded to move up next to the front of the bikes then merged into us. He came about 6-12 inches from hitting me. He did not speed up and try to merge in front of us, he pushed us to the left into on coming traffic. I blew the air horn (Loud Ass Horn) and he just proceeded. We kind of blew it off and continued east bound on Theodore. Then as we approached Broadway, we were in the left lane and the BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck was in the right lane. Theodore dead ends at Broadway so you have to go left or right. When we were about 2 car lengths from Broadway, the BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck cut in front of us to move into the left lane. If his previous cutoff was an accident, it was apparent that this time it was blatently on purpose. Since the light was red, Jay pulled up to the right of him and Ron on the left. They were trying to tell this man he ought to have respect for bikers on the roadway. When the light turned green, Jay took off from the right of the van and took a left hand turn. The BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck took a left and then drove into the oncoming traffic lane, crossing the double yellow lane and then aimed his BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARM truck toward Jay. Luckilly he did not hit Jay. When we got to Papa Joe's, we attempted to call the police. Joliet said that this was Crest Hill, then we called Crest Hill and got voice mail.

We dropped pursuing this thru the law enforcement agencies. I then called BENGSTON PUMPKIN FARMS (708-301-FARM) and left a message with the truck driver's plate number and told them what happened.

*****Added Response from BENGSTON FARMS*******

Monday morning I received the following voice mail from DAVE BENGSTON from BENGSTON"S PUMPKIN FARM:

"HI MIKE, THIS IS DAVE BENGSTON FROM BENGSTON'S PUMPKIN FARM. I HEARD QUITE A BIT OF A DIFFERENT STORY THAN YOU ARE TELLING ME THIS MORNING. I HEARD ABOUT A BUNCH OF LOUD DRUNKEN MOTORCYCLISTS TAKING OVER THE ROAD & I HEARD THERE WERE QUITE A FEW MORE OF THEM THAN YOU SAID. AT THIS POINT I COULD REALLY GIVE A SH*T WHAT YOU DO. MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO ME AT ALL. I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY GET OVER IT AT THIS POINT. YOU CAN CALL THE PRESIDENT, OR YOU CAN CALL THE SENATOR, OBAMA OR WHAT EVER THE FU*K YOU WANT TO DO. I DON'T REALLY CARE.

You're going to boycott a pumpkin farm? Where will I go to buy my pumpkins?!

Seriously. This is retarded.

Ride defensively, be on the lookout for suicide pumpkin drivers. Be done with it. This silliness has no business on this board. Now when someone goes crazy and starts smashing pumpkins this October they're going to blame the bikers!!

Not much credibility to the ABATE rant if they can't spell "sensible" correctly.

I don't think ABATE is lobbying in Washington to ban pumpkin drivers. Their involvement with the site based on their pro-motorcycle agenda - not their anti-pumpkin agenda.

I personally would have stayed as far from the idiot as possible after the first incident. When the second occured I would have pulled over and called the police and reported the whole thing. I have stopped being pissed off after being cut off. It's still not to late to call the local police and tell them you want to make a report and this report would be called "Record of incident" and ask that they try to investigate it. I also would have put this in the open forums so others in the area would be preparred in case they encounter the same truck from that farm.

Its good nobody got hurt from the incident but in the same turn, putting ABATE out there telling everybody to boycott a business just because of one jackass driver is a bit overboard.

Sounds like it's the owner of the business that was the caller. Sounds like he's as big a dickhead as the driver.

What I don't see is how A.B.A.T.E is involved at all.
Incidents like this happen to motorcycle riders everywhere almost every day. It doesn't matter what organization you belong to or where you were coming from. Ride defensively, avoid the jerks and make a report to law enforcement. If I wanted to boycott every driver's business who I could identify that cut me off or disrespected my right of way while riding, I wouldn't be able to deal with anyone!
Using A.B.A.T.E's name here was unnecessary, and quite frankly uncalled for. Just because you're a member, even if you're an officer...does not give you the power to use A.B.A.T.E's name to call for a boycott or any other action. Those decisions are made ultimately at the state level by the Board of Directors, who represent the entire membership.
I had to make these comments here, too many people don't know much about A.B.A.T.E on this board, and I think it's important that they realize that it has structure and procedure.
I'm glad no one got hurt, but let the anger go and don't drag others into it that weren't there.

+1 Guys who pull shit like this deserve to get theirs. It's when guys like this don't get punished (like what's probably going to happen here) that bikers eventually die.

Just plan a group ride out to the pumpkin farm... 30 bikes show up and see what he thinks then.
