seat belt check zone in park ridge

seat belt check safety zone...or the like...in park ridge around 430/5pm? i was on my way to night class and saw them pulling ppl over right around busse hwy and oakton on that island intersection. wtf? i didnt realize that was even an offense outside of chicago. so maybe someone could do a refresher? driver must be buckled, front passenger too. rear passengers only if under 18 right?
anyway, looked like they were makin good business at rush hour. but they just came up to ppl in the street and told them to pull over (on foot). guess you could just not give a damn and keep going if thats how it is

IL and most other states that I'm familiar with as well.

Wear a helmet, wear you seatbelt.

Not sure about the rear passenger thing but that sounds really 1970s to me....something tells me you're right though.

A superior rider uses superior judgment to avoid situations that require superior skill.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

I see those all the time in the summer in front of Golf Mill Mall. I'm always on the bike so they not a problem for me.

Another money making machine in the name of safety. The state knows what's good for us.

People wear seat belts because it's cheaper than getting a ticket.

Watch, someday some genius in the government will pass a bill mandating helmets.

I'm all about savings lives, but ultimately our freedoms are being taken away, one at a time.

Why don't they pass a law about cell phones... Car on, cell phone nonfunctional. Watch the accident rates [email protected]#

Edit: Hmm.. Last day of the month.. coincidence?

No, chicago doesn't. Chicago requires you to have a handsfree device, ie headset, borg attachment. I'm talking complete cell phone shutdown when the car is on.

End of the month has nada to do with it. There isn't a special "time of the month" like a menstrual cycle for PD's and Officers'. PD's get grant money from the state or other organizations (like MADD) to conduct these roadchecks (seatbelt or DUI) and it usually happens around holidays and kicks off for the year in the beginning of May when it starts getting nice out again.

If you take off, good luck. There is usually a plain clothes person or 2 who stands around spotting the vehicles' driver/passenger without seatbelt, they note the plate and number and tell the person to pull over. If they do not pull over as told, I guarantee there is a special reserved squad or even 2 waiting for people who do this. For not doing as instructed, you will be charged with fleeing and eluding. I've seen it done on many roadblocks. Better to just suck up the $55 ticket that is not going to affect your driving record anyway that be charged with fleeing and eluding and having your vehicle impounded or having an unknown warrant for your arrest for those charges when you thought you were lucky and got away.

Also, having your seatbelt tucked under your arm is still a violation as the seatbelt is not being worn and used as the manufacturer intended blah blah blah something like that.

Usually they will be looking for seatbelt and child restraint violations. Unless they are absolute dicks, they won't care about no front plate or something like that. Now, if you have tinted windows, roll the windows down bc even if you do have your belt on, they might have you pull over for that and say that bc of it they werent able to visually check that you had your belt on or something.

And I'm done...

Cops on the board correct me but you have to have signage at least 100 ft before one of these zones?
BTW explain you wording and what justifies entrapment in this case? Why are you saying that. You sound like mel gibson from conspiracy theory

If your wearing you seat belt WHY Bitch about it. Its not affecting you except slowly you rate of travel up a bit otherwise nothing lost but a few mins.

Sigh this thread should get interesting. My take on it Wear your seat belt simple as that. I on the other hand Dont wear one And will suck up the ticket if i am given one.

And no They do not need to post anything. Come to chicago where they hide the dui check points as construction zones.

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

Hi guys, what's going on in here?

Thanks for that info Jen! I had no idea the seat belt arm tuck was illegal. I do that sometime in cars that don't have adjustable height for the seat belt. I hate how the seat belt rubs on my neck. It's nice to have cops on the board who provide us with real info instead of our big internet brained egos stumbling over each other.

I can say the same about gun control. It only makes it more difficult for those that want to get guns legally. It' *may* make it harder to get guns illegally, but unlikely. If someone has the cash, i'm sure someone will sell you a weapon.

I am VERY grateful i'm not living in nazi run poland in the 1940's.

You're welcome guys! Just thought I'd put some info out there that maybe some didn't know (like I had always thought the under the arm thing was ok before)

Seatbelt usage by occupants in the car:

All front seat occupants are required to be protected by a safety belt or safety restraint system, regardless of age.

Passengers 16 and under regardless of location in the vehicle must be protected by a safety belt or restraint system.

Drivers under age 18 are currently required to limit passengers to one in the front seat and the number of seat belts in the back seat.

For Child Seats Requirements:
A child MUST be in a Child Restraint or Booster Seat up until and 8 years of age regardless of the childs' weight/height.

Just tossing this out there:

Do you think the lack of required seatbelt use in the back seat might have to do with riding in a taxi?
