Lifetime oil changes

Thought this was interesting

Clarkscarcare.com in naperville/aurora is now doing lifetime oil changes every 3K for 169.95 and is transferrable when you sell your car as well.

I thought this was great considering that most places charge 24.99 for an oil change.

makes sense. The $170 probably covers their cost for all the oil changes and they can sell any repairs that are needed other than oil changes. Good marketing.

Something is not adding up. You figure average American drives about 12K per year. They would need an oil change about 4x a year. Do they make you bring in your own oil/filter? Special appointments? Hidden costs?

That's a big +1 from me. I used to work at Stiffy Lube back in the day and you guys do not want to know what goes on in the pit you drive over. And also never believe anything that comes out of the saleman's mouth when they try to sell you something that they will not do to your car anyway.

I'm wondering how long they've been around... anyone know? If they are fairly new I'd be iffy since there's a higher chance of them going under. With the price of oil going up it's a great deal though.

I was lucky. I was good buddies with 2 Cambo's @ the Jiffy Lube on Golf (mike and some other, older cambo), and they always let me watch and inspect the work, and never tried to sell me any BS.

Wow what a deal then. 5 quarts of oil is about $10+ these days and will continue to rise and even a cheapie AC Delco oil filter is $4. So that's one hell of a deal.

I should open a Boob and Lube. I would make a fortune off WSE and Kegger alone. I once took a rental car to a Boob and Lube in Florida. True story.

I dont keep their books but their staff has been why I keep going back to them and why I posted up about the deal. my dads side and moms side both go there because they have been great to them as well.

they were ALWAYS straight forward and no BS about things that needed to be done on my car and I REALLY enjoyed that.

I had set appts with them so I would go in at 11am. hop on CLSB with their free wifi. then at 1130 I am gone. They were always on time which made me happy.

I will be signing up for the deal. it makes it easier not to have to worry about trying to squeeze in 3500 K, 4k ETC before next oil change. I will just go every 3K and keep receipts for any new car warranty work.

course no synthetic. rofl waffle.
you synth guys get raped at 80$ a change at the jooblube.

just wanted to bump this, The guys helped me out the other day with a stuck rotor on a car, (9.5 hrs with a 8lb sledge didnt budge it). And just reinforced how much I <3 them. I called em up to see how much it would cost and jason stayed on the phone with me running thru diagrams and records to see if he could find something to help me out with it. I went over and got it squared away, took em forty minutes with air hammer and hammers, cost me an hour of labor but woooorth it. Shop was busy but they still got me taken care of.

They still have the offer going on, my cheapass as well as wife and friend signed up for it so thumbs up for the guys there!

I remember when foot locker (or some other similar store) sold socks with a life time warranty. If the socks ever got a hole or ripped or whatever, you just bring it in and they would replace it. The catch is you forget you have the warranty, most people don't stay in one area for more than a few years, or there is a similar store that is more convenient and you just don't care you have that warranty after all it's just a sock. Sounds like a similar ploy.

Actually its not a ploy, its good business, you dont make money from oil changes, you make money from services, and by ensuring your customer continues to visit your place of business you have guaranteed(very good chance etc) that they will get service from you on their cars.

how much is the average oil change that people pay for? 25-35. divide 180/30 = 6, after 6 oil changes you have paid off your lifetime membership. seems cost effective to me.

They named their shop after Clark Griswold, from the vacation movies. When someone brought a Family Truckster replica to our car show, Matt showed up and gave the guy free oil changes for life. Random but true story.
