Be careful!

So I was driving north on 53 and there was a CBR600 riding around my car...The next thing I know I looked in my rearview mirror and watched the biker go right into the ditch on the Lake Cook ramp toward Buffalo Grove. I pulled over and called 911...He was okay, the bike on the other hand, was not. I was talking to him and he said he took the ramp too fast and it seemed as if he hit some gravel. That's my story for the day...I am glad the guy is ok!
*Did I do the right thing by calling 911 right away? (even though the guy was fine)

of course! its good that you pulled over. even if the guy said he was alright and appeared to be ok...that's not always the case. best to let the EMTs decide.

You definitely did the right thing in my mind. Better to be safe than sorry. If that guy was seriously hurt, the few minutes it could have taken to find out if he was ok could have potentially saved his life.

You certainly did the right thing calling 911, but why did you run him off the road?

Good on you for doing the right thing
Yeah dont worry, 911 operators wont scold you for calling in something that could potentially be a bad accident.

You guys seen the bits on Jay Leno where they play really stupid 911 calls (like, what's 2+2, or where's the nearest McDonalds)?

I would have wanted someone to stop and call 911 right away if it were me...who knows how bad you are hurt right away if the guy was able to get up right away, he could have had internal bleeding or broken bones etc but with adrenal running he might not have been in much pain +1 for helping!!!

On the flipside, I was on Taylor street yesterday evening and scored a prime parking spot. So dude flash his lights as if he was waiting for me to get out so he can park. Told him I was not leaving and the guy was pissed. "You are taking the entire spot for your little ass bike?!"

I said, "hell yeah I am! You want me to park in between two metered spots and get a ticket? Plus I have two more bikers meeting me here." The guy was pissed and drove off. Big black dude didn't want any from the Angry Asian. True story.

I take that ramp every single day. Hell even my minivan can pull that exit at over 45mph, exactly how fast would he have to be cruising there!?

Is this the tight right hander (not that tight) with the elevation change?

Yeah I am not sure how you can miss that ramp because it is not that tight of a curve, but he said he was going maybe 40mph and hit gravel and the front end started to shake...From what I saw the road curved and he went straight almost like he freaked out going to fast and didn't look into the turn...
