Skokie residents.. reg sticker q's

Just received a letter in the mail regarding getting a village sticker for the bike, that costs $7.50. I've had my bike for 5 years and have never seen this before. Anyone else get one? TIA

They probably pull their info from the state's database. I have my car registered elsewhere, but the bike is new, and all the paperwork pointed to the intown address.

I'm pretty sure when I renewed the tag earlier this year (i'm still on the march schedule), that I updated to the addr to the out of town one.

In any event, I still wouldn't pay it. The roads around here are messed up, no point in seeing my tax dollars go into some politicians pockets. The bike is never parked outside, and I know better than to make a mess in my own back yard.

I didn't buy my medallion for either of my bikes this year (its $15 a piece) and haven't received any fines (yet). I don't park on the street either.

Don't feel bad. In da city, the MC stickers are $45 each, and the fine if you're caught is $160+45+late fee. (and I have multiple bikes - ouch!)

Shoulda just paid the lousy $7.50

I would call the city and say you have been working on the bike all summer and was not able to ride it and did not purchase a tag. Just say money got tight and you could not fiish the bike. Maybe they will erase the fine for you.

Did either letter come certified? If not, you never received them. Doubt the village will file for collections for a $35 fine.

I always bought them in both Chicago(previously) and Skokie(when I was a motorcyclist). The Skokie registration is pretty damn cheap, aren't you supposed to be registered where you live for insurance? Would not registering constitute insurance fraud? Could they reject claims based on that?

I bought a Medallion last year and asked the guy working at town hall where to mount it. He said he had no clue so I kept it in my jacket. Niles has silver medallions. Cheap bastids

Chicago switched to a small gold medallion this year. It's square, about 1.5x2 inches. The old big round things were a pain. Now they fit sideways on the upper left of the plate nicely.

You think $7.50 or even $18 is robbery?!?! Try $45 for each bike you own, including antique bikes with no price break for the antiques! I pay over $700 per year for Chicago vehicle stickers and residential parking permits for my vehicles!
The suburbs are taking one from Chicago's playbook and using the states registration data to make sure you buy their vehicle stickers. It's about the revenue, and they're not about to let any dollars they have coming to them get away! Get the lousy sticker...If you are stopped while driving the vehcle, the violation becomes a mover and counts against your license...it becomes "operating an unregistered vehcle" and the fine is much more as well.
