How you found us: Stumbled onto it by mistake...

In Belgium

Well, I finished my interview a few hours ago. It went well. The thing that worries/makes me wonder is that I was the only one with a bachelors degree for the assessment. Of the other three, two had doctorates and one owns a telecom business in Easter Europe. The only thing I have to say is that I am all here on the company's dime, so they must think something of me. I have been already told by the VP of operations that of the four that interviewed for today's position, two remain. Me and another!!! He wouldn't tell me who, but it was out of the four I sat with today. Two weeks of agony is what I've been told.

Anyway, just got back from dinner where I ended up talking with a few expats; brits and americans. They said with the company I'm looking at, to go for it. They have heard nothing but good. Anyway drank some beers with these blokes and just got back to the hotel. They are supposed to swing by and grab me up to show me the sights in a bit. Enjoy Chi-town, I definitely think I'm going to enjoy the shennanigans (pistol whip) here tonight!

Cheers!

Have fun. Get some pics of the hotties out there.

Good luck with the company. Just because you have the least education doesn't mean you're the least qualified or not the best fit for the position.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Drink a shit ton of really good beer is all I have to add. I saw some show on cable where they were drinking beers out of cognac type glasses to enhance the smell. I'm fookin thirsty now!

Chimay rocks! I always get a bottle at the bar at school, they serve it with a chalis. It's great!

Found out this morning that I was selected for the job. Offer is to follow in the next day or two. I'll have some serious thinking to do. If I accept, then it is off to Bahrain in September for training and somewhere in Eastern Europe by spring/summer '09, well on my way to becoming an expat.

I'm not sure if you are being serious here.

For some it may be difficult, but for me it's right up my alley. No kids or anything to worry about. I love being overseas and the thought of being saddled here kills me. Just sell my stuff and go. Wife stays here, finishes up school, sells our stuff and off we go.

Congrats on the offer. I have to say that I spent three years in Europe working when I was not too far out of school and it was one of the best experiences I have had. I would definitely go back and do it again given the opportunity.

If your life is at a position where you can go without too much stress or complication - and your wife is ready and ambitious to do it as well then go for it. Note that at some point it will be more difficult for her unless she is going to be working as well.

Yeah I think that was it. normal looking dude just touring countries and their bars? I get kinda pissed when I watch that show because I realize I'm sitting at home watching some dork get drunk while I'm at home on the couch WATCHING him get drunk.
