Cable / Internet

I just cancelled my comcast cable and internet. Fuck them. Their service is expensive and their customer service sucks. I'm tired of dealing with them. I was paying 100 dollars a month for basic crap cable and internet. I barely watch TV especially during the summer. I use the internet here and there and I still want to have it but for just internet they want 50 bucks a month.

What other internet services are out there? How much? Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Nice Nick. i respect anyone that gets pissed at comcast.

I canceled my internet with them. i use a verizon wireless card.

For cheap options, if you don't game, look into DLS. There is something called "dry line dsl" where you don't have to have phone service. I think it was only $15 a month and i think it was through yahoo/att

To cancel the service the dumb asses had to transfer me 4 times. 4 TIMES!!!!!

At first I just wanted to cancel the TV and keep the internet. But they wanted to jack the internet up to 65 bucks a month and charge me 20 bucks to put a filter on my cable line so I don't have cable. Fuck them. I am so happy I cancelled it.

I have DSL and am quite happy with it. Comcast sucks, and I only have their cable because I can get the HD local channels with basic cable.

This is a no win. I had to tell AT&T to go fuck themselves after they missed three installation appointments. They cancelled one because "Sir we can't install today. The tech says there is snow on your roof."

I'd love to tell Comcast to get fucked also, but there aren't a whole lot of options after that.

Fucking $100 a month for entertainment. Crock of shit.

They both suck but its a necessary evil. I jumped through hoops to get AT&T at my house only to have them finally say I can't get it. My service was slow and it was because I was to far from their station. I now get ripped off by comcast monthly. What else can you do when you only have these two numb nuts companies. And if you hate Comcast customer service, wait til you go AT&T! Wow, It took 3 transfers up the chain before I was able to get someone that said, have you unplugged and plugged in the modem? And that was the extent of his technical knowledge. hahaha No offense to anyone that works for those companies as I've talked to some bright people in both of those companies, but they are few and far.

EDIT: I would kick ass for $100 a month. My bill is about 150% of that.

Good for you man . Their customer service is the worst on the planet. I will go completely off the grid with no cable and internet before I use them again. I use wowway now, but they aren't available in many areas.

I've been with rcn for the last 4 years. It was a little rocky in the beginning, they had just rolled out the service in this area and there were bugs to squash. For the last 3 yrs or so, it's been practically flawless with just an occasional outage a handful of times a year.

They offer 4 different tiers from 1.5 to 20 mbps. Their 20 mbps service achieves a good 18-19 consistent mbps. There's no invisible bw caps like with comcast.

+1 for hating Comcast with a passion.

Nick you can get DirecTV installed probably for free with a DVR, I think the base in $44/month, and you will get that pimp Fuel TV channel you like watching in my garage.

We have airbaud and it's 33/month but I believe it is only for our area with a seperate satellite dish.

Comcast service does suck but their speed is crazy fast, Even better than the T1 crap we have at our office that costs 1K a month. You should really check out Verizon USb card, I only pay 60.00 a month and you can bring it anywhere.
