I wonder if its like the Samsung Glyde that Verizon has now, it seems pretty cool but I still like the Voyager better.
I'm not a fan of Samsung phones also, I had 2 and they were crapola.

Samsung has always made some good phones. They had phones with live streaming tv, widescreen and stereo sound in Korea when we were still using bricked out Motorola garbage here. And people wonder why Motorola is going down. That cool ringback technology? Sold to T-Mobile from Korea. That said, I still like my iPhone. Apple has a way of making their stuff VERY logical. From the first time I picked up the phone I knew how to use it. Everything makes sense. Samsung? Not the last time I checked.

I have the Samsung Blast and it is a good phone Except for it has a qwerty key pad and the phone numbers do not have the same letters so you can not dial 1 800 eat shit. Because the letters do not match.

Instead of trying to beat an iphone just get one.

I don't think this phone has Wi-Fi. Thats a deal breaker for me. Sprint has a big problem with Wi-Fi I think, they currently only sell 1 phone (HTC Mogul, $500) that has built in Wi-Fi. If this phone had Wi-Fi, I would probably get it. Since I'm at UIC for 8-10 hours a day, Wi-Fi is important since it allows me to get internet without having to pay $30/month for the Sprint data plan (also to expensive IMO). I still don't like touch screen keyboards. The one in the iPhone sucks, its a real pain to use. When I got my BlackBerry, I was able to type with the keyboard pretty well as soon as I got it. My friend has an iPhone which I've used and it is a real pain to use the keyboard. If the keyboard on the Instinct is anything like the iPhone, it is going to be a problem. I do however like the internet browser. The internet browser in the iPhone is great, other phones like the BlackBerry and Windows Mobile phones suck. Looks like the Instinct will have a similar browser so that should be good as well. I'd like to use it and see how it is.

I have nothing useful to add Ken, all I know the longer I wait, the cheaper these type of phones become and and the more features. Everyone will be trying to knock the Iphone off the top of the hill.

Its got a qwerty keyboard to use instead of a touch screen but since you hate text messaging and don't use it, this isn't going to help you much. If you don't want to lug your laptop around with your air card, the iphone is probably better for you since it's got a bigger screen than this phone for web browsing

this phone itself is pretty nice, but I'd be more worried about the Sprint's lack of GSM infrastructure. The rest of the world has been using this for a while now and even most domestic carriers are starting to migrate towards it EXCEPT for Sprint. So if you travel and need to roam on some other carrier in a non-Sprint area, you'll be SOL

Actually I disagree. Sprint actually has the largest network coverage w/ it's "huge" roaming agreements with carriers. CDMA tends to have better coverage in more areas then GSM. Ever wonder why GSM (att & tmo) won't work in rural areas? It's because most GSM towers are placed in major cities and highways, where as CDMA are placed everywhere.

I care more about the carrier than I do the phone. For me, the IPhone would never happen because I can't stand AT&T's billing methods. I've found a home with T-Mobile because they are easy to understand with great customer service. They dont have an I-Phone or I-Phone killer, but I'm happy with my Shadow because it works and because it's with T-Mobile.

I'm going to have to find out about this. Last time I checked the price for a data plan on Sprint's smart phones (BB, Palm, HTC) it was $30 a month. I first thought it was $15 (which is what my friend told me) and when I called Sprint to enable the plan the lady said you can only use the $30 plan with smart phones. If you have a normal phone I think the plan is much cheaper. With a SmartPhone you can do all kinds of stuff and run lots of applications (you can even run SSH) so it would make sense that it costs more, but $30 is ridiculous. The iPhone's data plan is $20.

I've purchased iPhones for family members and have played with and used them with a lot of satisfaction. I personally have a BlackBerry but I wouldn't shy away from any Apple product.

With Apple's marketing/advertising and always being first to market you're not going to beat them.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. ~ Buddha

If anyone wants a good package from sprint, when this phone comes out or any other phone like the HTC Diamond message me. 2 year contract I know but good discounts on phone and the plan is $30 bucks a month + Tax for the following: 500 Anytime Minutes
Nights and Weekends Starting at 7pm
Unlimited Texting
Unlimited Data(Yes Internet Email the Good Stuff)
Free Mobile-To-Mobile

or for 1250 Minutes for $49.99 per month + tax.

Sprint is great in terms of coverage in my area, voice quality is great, data is fast

The only thing this has over the iphone that I can see is the REV.a data speed and the built in GPS(I am assuming it is a chip ISO of celltower pinpointing). The next iPhone supposedly out in June is going to address both these. The iPhone is perfect for people to use right out of the box. The only thing I did not like was Edge speed since edge does not support voice-data at the same time like 3G. Right now I am back to windows mobile and I'm waiting for the Sony Xperia to come out.

I don't think comparing this phone to the iphone is accurate. the I phone came out a year ago and is old technology. This samsung phone launches in June and the Iphone 2 (or whatever its called) should be out by then. Compare those two and I bet I phone wins (and I'm not an apple biased person). The new iphone is supposed to be 3g so the internet will be faster.
