So a car just ran into the library across the street

well sorta...
No time for descriptions as the girls are waiting for me to take them to the club.. then off to the midnight show of Iron Man for me..

In any case.. this shit is to good not to share
I wont have time to post or even review all pics.. so here is a link
http://gconsier.smugmug.com/gallery/4961147_RajgW

Short story..
hear a loud boom across street (by loud I mean felt like house shook)
look outside.. see 2 sport cars (assuming friends of boom boom)
pull up.. and then speed off tires spinning..

go down.. see this..
guy speaks little english and keeps asking me to "push me off" "please"
I explain.. cant happen.. he knocked the guard rail off and was sitting on the post with his engine mounts...

He ended up leaving in handcuffs.. they are still getting the car down as i type

ok have to run her shoes are on

and to all who pm'd me.. been off for a bit.. i'll get with you as soon as i have a few minutes

I don't know why he tried to park there - it looks like there's plenty of open spots in that parking lot that would have worked just fine!

Must be a rash of this. 55 yr old woman tried to make a new drive thru at one of the taco bells here. Foot "slipped" off the brake into the gas sending her car into the bathroom area of the building.

No kidding, out west too! yesterday at work I was on a test drive coming back to my shop, and catch a glimpse of something moving through the dealer lot next to ours, then suddenly a palm tree shook rather hard knocking some branches to the ground. As I pull up I see an older Lincoln Town Car wrapped around the palm tree, all airbags deployed, the driver , a teen, unconcious, and some lady screaming for help. It was all kinda surreal. If the Palm tree hadn't stopped him, the car infront of me would have and I'dve had to slam the brakes.

The optimist believes that we live in the best of all possible worlds...
The pessimist fears this to be true.

Reminds me of the time I was walking into the Niles USPS office and some woman decided to make it a drive through and went straight through the plate glass window with her Tarus. I don't think anyone was seriously injured though thankfully.

My name is JB, people call me JB

So.. They managed to remove the car sometime last night (left at 11:30 it was there.. came home around 2:30 and it was gone)

In any case.. Thought I'd post a few more pictures.. Plus I went over and took some pics of the aftermath this AM.. So you guys can see the damage..

I think the guy was kinda drunk, and he didn't seem to speak much english.. I also think he might have had a passenger (I didn't see one, but both airbags were deployed - dont most cars have sensors nowadays?)

I felt bad because he kept asking me to "push me down" "please push me down" and I'd explain.. There is no way I can push you down, you have a support beam running through the bottom of your engine.. you need to be picked up over it.. and I can't do that (and it appears the 2 big F450 tow trucks couldn't either.. Wonder if they brought in a big semi wrecker?)

In any case..
Timeline

10:15 or so .. hear the loud boom
look outside and see 2 other sports cars pull up then first one stops and pulls to the right (g35 white) .. the blue stang behind hammers down.. lights em up and flies down belmont (not very far.. 10p traffic is heavy).. then the g35 follows...
Look outside cant see whats going on.. but see a huge cloud of smoke (this is about 100' to the right of my place) horn is blasting solid and someone is revving their engine and doing a burnout..

get down there.. and the guy is in the car.. in reverse trying to back up off the fence... a few people are telling him to stop.. he asks them for a "push" - The smoke I see was him leaving a huge cloud from smoking his tires in reverse for 30 seconds or more at a time.. plus probably some from the engine as it was leaking oil and he was sitting on rev limiter with his tires spinning in reverse

I have my chat with him where I explain I cant push his car.. and.. even when it comes down.. it's really in no condition to go anywhere.. plus i think he might have broken or sprained his wrist..

Realizing the utter hillarity of the situation ihave to run back upstairs and grab my little camera (the big SLR just seemed to imposing) and take a few "available light" photos.. by the end I realize I dont care and use flash on a couple.. Felt kinda bad when the cop walked him past me as I was walking home.. he had cuffs on and just looked at me all sad like I betrayed him ... Sorry you got a DUI bro.. but .. why the hell did you drive into the library? that's kinda asking for it... besides.. V6 or not.. I've been pretty bad about goin to the gym.. and I dont think I can lift one up off of what you put it on

in any case.. here are a few more shots.. and some pics from this morning

and for this morning

What did I learn from all of this? Those friggin book drop boxes are [email protected] Iron was twisted all around it like it was nothing.. and it was not even dented.. Do night book returns really need that safe like strength? Maybe so.

Shock that it happened? Shock that he was drunk?
Shock that I would take pictures of it?
Shock that you idiots from the suburbs always come to the city to "party" and often end up getting drunk making asses of yourselves?
