maybe we should pay these high gas prices

So how high will gas have to be, for people to stop wasting gas? I can't count how many people are leaving their cars running in parking lots. I questioned a few people on it and they said "well, i have someone sitting in the car so that is why it's running" Or some guy stuffing his mouth with cheap ass taco bell with his car running. And you have the same people driving like idiots to red lights.

And I doubt we have to worry about a supply issue. If we had such a problem with supply, gas stations would be running out of gas like they did in the 70s. Oil companies see how people are stupid and use more gas, and they have a great excuse to charge us anything.

I'm not ranting on how expensive gas costs, but ranting on how people just waste gas still.

i concour.. but with the technologies that we have, you'd think a stop light on a rural road would know if there's a 30-50 car pack moving towards the red light, and no cross traffic. I think there's some government scamming going on, since they are collecting on fuel tax.

i agree, there are some pretty stupid drivers too..

MSN had a "What If" article yesterday, it was titled what if gas cost $10 a gallon.

It will cost $125 to fill up a Honda Civic it will cost $225 to fill a Ford Explorer, take a look at what is happening with the oil companies and congress right now. They want to boost crude supply and if you look at what the Saudi's said, it doesn't matter how much crude is on the market you don't have anyway to refine it, and that is your problem.

10 years ago when gas prices were right around a $1 a gallon alot of oil compaines were on the verge of bankrupcy..............

As gas prices increase, I DO find myself riding my lower CC motorcycles more, actually. I also see myself riding them in more questionable weather. How high will gas prices need to get before I go radical? Probably $5.00 per gallon. I am already adjusting how I drive in any vehicle (car or bike). I am planning on $5.00 a gallon by next summer and adjusting accordingly. if it happens to go down by then, I am still ahead of the game.

Another alternative is to move closer to work... i was considering that last week.

We need more roads/lanes too. Sitting in traffic idling waste a ton of gas. If there were no traffic that caused you to drive under 10 mph people would get places sooner and have their cars running less. Cracks me up when you head downtown and you see a BMW 7 series or other high performance car putting along at 5 mph because of the congestion. What a waste of a nice car.
The gov. and states have to realize that the roads were designed back in the 50's when 5 out of 10 families owned a car. And those who had one only had one car. Now families have a car for each person it seems. Lots more cars on the road, thus more open roads needed.

As for lower CC bikes, does anyone have any ballpark ideas of what kind of mileage the Kawi 250's get? The new 08's look pretty sweet and might be worth it to trade DOWN in hopes of being able to budget fuel costs.

I think for gas prices to really affect the average consumer it would have to be around $8 or something. Sad, but what to do. Convenience is really nice with low gas prices. I'm making it a point to commute more on the bike, 45 mpg vs the 27 I get in the Mini. And as we all probably know already, shift up into higher gears quickly to get better mileage or trade in that 1000 for a 250

I read that in LA they've seen a significant spike in subway usage vs driving this year. You know what, if Chicago wins the bid to host the 2016 Olympics, the city would probably dump a lot of money to improve public transportation... but then the construction would suck...

Interesting point about fuel taxes. And yes, traffic lights definitely need to be smarter to recognize which road has the higher flow of traffic (stopping a 55 mph 4-lane road for no cars coming out of a subdivision..arrrgh)

Same here. Pace is more crowded and the BNSF is getting to be standing room only. They are going to have to add more cars if this keeps up.

anything over 10 seconds it uses less gas to start then engine back up. but you also have to worry about the wear and tear on your starter. I used to deliver pizza and i was never sure if the wear and tear on my starter was worth saving the droplets of gas that i would waste walking up to the door. I always turn my car off when i go in places just cuz its a pimp mobile and i don't want no one to try and steal my shit yo

I was getting over 300 miles a tank on my old '03 EX250 and the tank is small on that. I think I calculated it out to ~50mpg? I thought that what all bikes got until I moved up to a pair of 600cc bikes. haha, no.

I definitely have started paying attention to the little things that help out with gas mileage.

well, I saw $4.35 for REGULAR at Fullerton & Western yesterday...same pump topped out at $3.99 last summer but was way down around $3 not that long ago....shit is all over the place and I wouldn't be surprised to see $5 this summer.

It's not hard to get 50/55 out of a modern 600 like my FZ6. A newer 250 should get more than that but you won't be having any fun.

Wanna save money with gas stop buying it in cook county the shit is WAY over priced and in chicago they let them get away with the crazy prices. irving and pulaski is almost 4.50 for regular and almost 5 for 93 octane

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .
