speeding ticket question

Something tells me a couple of you might know a thing or two about speeding tickets

I got pulled over today by woodridge police for doing 63 in a 40 according to the police officer. He paced me, no radar I guess... Anyways, first I'd like to say the officer was very courteous and respectful, which was very nice, the couple of times i've been pulled over on the bike in the past the officers were rude and condescending so it was a welcome change, props to the officer for treating me well even though i was on a sportbike!

Now down to myquestions, I do not have a mandatory court date, the ticket is for $95 and the officer said it looks like i qualify for entering a guilty with supervision plea through the mail. Meaning I plead guilty, but would only get 90 days supervision (and pay the 95 ticket). This seems like a good deal, has anybody tried this before? I'm wary to do it and then have them reject the supervision for some reason and put the ticket on my record, I'd rather go in with a lawyer if that is the case... I only have one ticket in the 9 years i've been driving and riding, and none for over 2 years. The only requirement they list for the supervision is no tickets in the last 12 months. Anybody have success with this? Woodridge is part of duPage county

ask muskrat, here is here to help with advise that he can give.

but i think you wont get any better for the price and even might automatically get a 60 day supervision after you mail it in.

but then again, i don't practice traffic law, but thats my best guess.

You'll be fine. Mail in the money. I know in DuPage and you go into court, the mandatory fee is close to $300 because of court costs, possibly more seeing as it was the $95 ticket. I have used the mail in before and, as long as you do not have a ticket within 12 months, you are good to go.

Looks like you gotta be good for the rest of the season

Also, DO NOT get a ticket in the next 12 months... I made that mistake and it cost me $500 to get supervision.

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Take that and run. Show up to court and trying to fight it is only gonna get you 8 hours class time plus a shit load of money. Pay it be done with it slow down

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

Ya your best bet is to just mail in the supervision. A lot of cops will actually write you for 59 in a 40 so you don't get an extra fee tacked onto your ticket. Just know that if you get a ticket within 1 YEAR of your supervision you cannot apply for it again. I know this from experience. I did get a lawyer though to go back on supervision, but it gets expensive. And sometimes pacing is bullshit. I've been "Paced" when a cop was turning the corner. Boy was he way off on my speed. 45 in a 45 and I got written for 65.

I've done the mail in loooooong time ago but it was in Cook Co. and it went well. It sounds like a decent deal IMO.

When I got a ticket a couple years ago it was for 68 in a 40 - in the car, trying to get around a truck before the lanes went from 2 to 1.

The cop was cool and I knew I was guilty... the bonus was that I was able to get supervision and take the class ONLINE. Of course it cost like an extra $30 on top of the $95 ticket.

Oh yeah - I was leaving for my honeymoon in a few weeks and told the officer I needed my license since I was leaving the country.. so he actually let me keep it and didn't need anything for bond.. I signed for it and was set. I was shocked.

Definetly mail it in.
Keep in mind court costs have skyrocketed recently,
if you go to court you'll get at least another 100$ tacked on just for showing up.

Just mail it in. I hadn't had a ticket in over three years and last August I got stoppped at Higgins and Barington. I only got a 75$ ticket but I mailed it in and got my supurvision. Got my license back in the mail a few weeks later. I was on my bike at the time of the stop and the cop had a stick up his ass for the first five minutes. I was nothing but nice to him and he finally calmed down after a while and things went well.

+1

I did supervision but I think mine was for 180 days or 6 months (close enough). Its really simple. Pay the fine. Dont get another moving violation and youre good to go (no marks for the insurance nazis to see).
