First Speeding Ticket

Well I just rode to Vegas and back and after speeding through the mountains and desert for the past week, I ironically get pulled over 1 block from my apartment on my way home.

I got ticketed for doing 30 mph in a 25 zone...This is my first ticket, $63.

My question is...Will this hurt my insurance rate?

I got pulled over in Elmhurst a few years ago. The officer asked me if I knew why he stopped me. I asked him if it was for driving on the median or speeding while driving on the median. He laughed and let me go.

I got lost in Downtown Elmhurst today. Sucks about the ticket. I think for your first ticket you can take the class and get it taken off your record. In this case it won't count on your driving record.

just pay the fine and get your court supervision... think of it as the cost for all the speeding you did the rest of the trip

speedo error is not an affirmative defense for a speeding ticket

Damn that is pretty strict. Perhaps you should start some riots. That seems to work in south central LA.

In DuPage County? Not!

I was ticketed for doing 27 in a 25, went in front of the judge in Wheaton and said: "but judge I was only doing 2 mph over."

He looked at me and said: "Son, what was the posted speed limit?"

I said: "25 MPH." To which he said: "You exceeded that 25 so you are guilty. Pay the fine and get outta my court."

Tough love out there.

5mph over that's bullshit. You may not have any luck with the judge over is over . I would write a letter to your mayor and cc it to the local newspaper. Writing a ticket for 5 over may be well within the law but it is not within the spirit of serving the community. Out by me public pressure has forced the Holiday Hills PD to change their policies.

This was actually in Iowa City. My main concern is if this is going to effect my insurance premium...I have no problem paying the $60 and getting supervision. I just don't want to have to pay for this later.

I got pulled over last week for not putting my signal on soon enough...I was in the left turn only lane, where else was I going to go???, and he said that I didn't put it on soon enough. I really think he was just messing with me because I was on a bike and it had the temporary plates. This was a Buffalo Grove cop...protect and serve? my ass!!!!

Supervision means that, as long as you do not get another ticked within the supervision (normally 3 months), it does not get reported to your insurance carrier.

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Godspeed 788!!! We miss you!

5 over? I think were not hearing the whole story. I regularly ride next to and pass popo at 5-7 MPH over and have never been pulled over.....

Worked for me in that little old Monee courthouse. 8 mph over, judge said to get it fixed before I go out again

I was thinking the same thing. Like maybe you were doing 15 over and the cop was cool and just wrote it for 5 over. I've gotten a few of those before. Kegger says the truth too, I always go past the cops speeding a little, they've never pulled me over unless I was going the other way.

If you dont get out of the ticket yes, if you do get out of the ticket no.

Now I got a question, if im running from the cops and they dont catch me will it affect my insurance? How about if they do catch me?
