So I had a date with the pavement today HARD!

People from the chicago area knows about Lake Shore Drive and thats where I bit the dust right by navy pier. Now I know alot of people couldnt wait to see this thread but its coo with me.

Anyway I was traveling on LSD at 3am in the morning right after the S turn going around a right hander on a bridge and all I know my back end kicks out towards the median and I was sliding and all I see is sparks and my passenger tumbling. I swear I dont see how people say you gotta know how to slide because that pavement had the best of me and all I can think was when the hell am I gonna stop and I hope my passenger is ok.

I offered her a helmet but she decided she didnt want to sweat her hair out. She came out pretty bad and all she was saying while she was in shock was " Is my face ok, Is my face ok" to her friend.

I was fully geared thanks to some pictures on her but still ended up with road rash on my right butt cheek until about the middle part of my thigh. I had a 95 dollar HJC helmet, Tecknic Chicane leather jacket, Tecknic leather gloves, Timberland boots, and ICON shin/knee protecter.

O yea and Wear your gear if you dont already because they cleaned my road rash 3 times and its not fun AT ALL. Oh yea and the chicagoi police left my bike on LSD telling me that they dont tow bikes which i didnt know

Glad you're all okay, and nobody sweat their hair out.

I don't wish lessons learned the hard way on anyone...especially when it comes to bikes. Hope your passenger has a speedy recovery.

good to hear youll be ok, hope your passenger comes out ok as well

this thread is the shows the effectivness of gear perfectly: 1 crash,2 people involved, 2 very dramatically different outcomes

uhhh yikes! sucks to learn life lessons the hard way but bad results usually come from making bad decisions.

you're only compounding the trend by having this thread around if her family want's to spank your ass with a lawsuit...

hope you both heal up okay

70 mph on the Oak St curve? Are you nuts! Especially at that time of night there is nearly always dew on the road which mixes with oil.

LSD is not like a track. Its full of oil and debre. Since its so close to the lake it is always wet after dark until the sun comes up again.

Operating a motorcycle. So easy, even a caveman can do it. Knowing how to ride? Priceless.

Yeah. The lawsuit will happen. Not so smart posting this.

Even less smart was allowing a passenger to NOT wear gear on YOUR bike. Its your bike, your call. By not doing that, you've made pretty much sure that the lawsuit won't go your way.

sorry to hear about your passenger...but its each persons decision to wear gear or not...she chose not to...so she has to deal with the issue at hand...

the bike can be repaired...it sounds like u will be ok...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

I don't think anyone on this board was hoping that you would crash or would say, "I told you so." People ride their own ride and make their own decisions.

Glad to hear that nobody was killed.

It was his decision to ride her anyway. If a lawsuit does happen and probably will depending on the injury and cost for said injury.

Sorry to hear that! And I and maybe a very few others will be able to decipher when/why a woman says something like they didn't want to sweat their hair out. But I always ride with mine (and yes I sweat my hair out because of it but I expect that). Glad you two are ok!

This is true but then then you are also making the choice to ride that person with no gear and that means you are taking responsiblity for that person while they are riding on the back of your motorcycle (gear or no gear).

In this case, you did get into an accident and I am glad to hear that you both faired through it, hope that it works out for you. Insurance is a beautiful thing.

Take care
