if that doesn't work just kick her

We all take calculated risks every day.

When we step in the shower, drive a car, cross the street or eat our wives cooking.

She married you and (should) trusts you.

Convince her you care about her and the baby and will be careful and
consider them as you carefully ride the motorcycle that you love.

Sit down and go over your budget with her, have a plan and show her how you will take care of things and can afford to keep the bike, reassure her that you are a safe and responsible rider and remind her that you are the guy she wants to marry, and part of being that guy is the enjoyment that you get from riding the bike.

But, you may still be fu**ed

Tell her you don't want to, but don't be a jackass about it. Tell her how much you care about her and the baby, and you'll take it easy on the motorcycle because they're so important to you. Might not work, but it's an honest answer

Well get at least a 100,000 dollar life insurance on your self because if somthing bad happens to you they will be taken care of. Second compromise whats the one thing that she really loves to do and tell her that she can do it, to be fair.

If it's not financial, then you need to tell her that the bike is part of your personality and makes you, well you. I assume that's why she loves you. Also convince her that you will be extra careful when riding because you want to be around for her and the baby for a long time.

Good luck!

I was just in the exact same situation. I sold mine because we needed to free up some cash. Yes I miss my gixxer but watching my daughter grow up has more fun than ever riding. I still have my dirtbike, even though I haven't ridden it yet this year. I will get another one soon enough but for now our priority is our daughter.

Need to know the reason.

Financial - figure it out now, or sell it now and replace it later or get a cheaper one now... lots of options. Fix the issues then.

Safety - You die. What happens to the kid and the wife? Got insurance? Can she make ends meet without you? Do you want your kid growing up without a father? Fit the issues then. BTW - You can be the safest driver in the world and get killed by the cager that turns in front of you, doesn't see the stop light, or rear ends you when you are sitting at a red light. Bikes are FAR more dangerous on the street than a car, no matter what you tell yourself about your "skills".

Maturity - She thinks you should grow up and quit playing with motorcycles? Forget it then.

Is it money? Security? Danger? Time away from her? "Growing up?"

I am sure it's all of these things...
or at least most.. Put them in order.. you know her best... everyone else is just guessing...

Each problem has a different solution... this is by no means a complete list.. or a complete list of solutions for those problems..

Money? That's on you.. Money is almost always an issue somehow...

Security and or danger... I carried $2m in life insurance and accidental death for my wife.. Just in case... (if you have a normal corp job.. I dont think they realize the risk they are taking with *some* of us)

Time away from her? You might actually *want* to be around a bit more when you have a little one around.. but... sometimes people *want* to do something more when they dont have to.. when it's their call.. having the bike and the opportunity to go ride.. makes it YOUR choice to stay home and spend time with the family..

You are being tested.

The test is: What is more important to you, Her and your child OR your bike.

Choose wisely, or simply change the question and compromise... Keep the bike, but don't ride it... (she'll ease up later on that).

Everyone Exaggerates
