Caught this last night. Very interesting spin on what was happening to everyone, I read very little about the movie prior. The movie was pretty tense throughout but the ending left a little to be desired. It did not end with a typical Shyamalan spin and I did not see him in this movie like others he has done..

basically, plants were releasing a toxin in to the air as a defense mechanism. The toxin interfered with people's sense of self preservation. This is something that plants have proven to do over time to ward off different types of incects... ect. I mean releasing chemicals for defense, not what happens in the movie..

The movie also starts off talking about honey bees dissapearing in the U.S. which is actually happening. The way it was depicted when people were "infected" was erie, typical M Knight fashion. I thought it was done pretty well, kept you on the edge of your seat. Wahlberg was not too bad either, he's actually turned in to a half way decent actor.

the outbreak peaks over a period of a day and then subsides, it was confined to the east coast and they do not know why. It ends with the media speculating on different conspiracy theories because it was confined. Terroist attack, experimental govt. weapon and so on. Very similar to what always goes on with major events.

Then if flashes to a scene in Paris three months later in a park. Densely populated areas were in first in the U.S. and the same thing begins to happen there before the movie ends..

Obviously, this movie plays to the whole green movement. Nature fighting back and what not.

I have read some negative reviews but I think people expect too much from him after the Sixth Sense, Signs, ect.... Lady In The Water was a bomb though..

I thought it was eh. M. Knight was "Joey" they guy calling wahlberg's wife in the beginning even though you don't hear or see him.
