As of recently we been taking our pets to the Dundee Animal hospital. They have two locations.

1st is East side of Dundee just off Rt 72.

2nd is West of Elgin near Rt 20 and Randell Rd.

For some reason the staff at the Dundee office is more pleasureable to us.

Hey Chris,

Todd (from our snowmobile trips) owns animal hospitals in Elmhurst, Naperville, & Glen Ellyn. A bit of a drive but could be worth it. If you want me to put a word in, LMK.

VCA Animal Hospital in Aurora Illinois is a 24hr hospital, in case something nasty happens late at night or on a weekend, when you're normal vet isn't available:

2600 West Galena Boulevard
Aurora, IL 60506
Phone: 630-896-8541
Fax: 630-896-8594

Recently I had to take one of my cats, who had a wee-wee blockage ... we were there until 4am on Monday, but it was very fortunate they were there ... those kinda things can be fatal.

Dante: [to Randal] You never go ass-to-mouth!
Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

I've worked with Dr. Larson in the past and he's a great guy. He's at the 2nd location in Elgin. Very patient!

it depends on your type of dog also...i would find out if the vet has experiance with your/thier breed...i called around to see if a vet had experiance with my dogs breed (AKITA)...i found one in bloomingdale...the reason why is some dogs are very allergic to some things, and if the vet doesnt know about the brred...they can kill them...this vet knew that akitas are HIGHLY allergic to general anistsia (sp?) and it will kill them...akitas can only go under by medical nitrous oxide...

so make sure you read up on your dogs breed and see if there are allergies to be aware of or whatnot...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Tell your friend to go to Hanover Park Animal Care Center. It's in the elgin/hoffman estates area near the Hanover Park train station. That's where I take my shar-pei and they are great. 630-830-6620.

I'm sorry, but my wife is going off on me right now because of this comment, breed generalizations like this are not acurate. Is it possible that your dog is, yes, but the breed- not going to happen.

Good place, we have boarded here a couple of times and liked how everything was, very reasonable boarding too.

If your co-worker would like to drive to Palatine on Lake Cook Road just east of Quetin (sp?) Hilltop Animal Hospital, my wife is the Tech there and runs the place. Just one Dr. and he is the owner, they will see anything and if you call around the most reasonable prices you will find in the area with out getting smoke blown up your ars.

One more thing, stay away from any facility associated with Care Animal Hospital, Banfield in Petsmarts, and VCA. They are corporate hospitals and only care about the dollar and not the well being of you pet.

+1 I take my Shar Pei mix there. They do excellent work, in a brand new facility. They are also very great with the animals they handle and couldn't be nicer.
