Lawyers?

Anybody know a lawyer that deals with work related cases? I was fired about month and a half ago but I had nothing to do with the situation. Its a long story.

One thing you're going to run into is that Illinois is a "no cause" state ... employers can terminate anyone at any time, for any reason, and they sometimes don't even need a reason. It sux ... I know. I got RIFFED (reduction in force) a couple years back ... it royally sucked, but nothing legally I could do about it.

Dante: [to Randal] You never go ass-to-mouth!
Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

Unless you were working under contract you're pretty much done. If you were under contract and they violated the terms you could sue them for breach...

Ya pretty much what has been said is correct. In Illinois employers don't need a reason to fire you. Unless you are under contract or have been harrassed in some form there is no reason to try and sue as you'll just be wasting your time.

If you have any other questions, let me know. I work in corporate law.

What kind of work do you do?

Honestly, not trying to be a dick, but based on your recent incident, shouldn't you be worried about getting sued and defending youself instead of suing other people?

Jim, I meant Chitownridah. He had an interview and a job offer and turned it down. Jim, anytime you want to work at my house while work is slow, let me know. I need help installing trim and hanging a few doors. Maybe some flooring also.

This is the reason I am very leery about recommending people for jobs. The RR may be big enough where this will not affect your name to whomever does the hiring. Then when somebody needs a job the guy that turned it down screwed you.
