The Blue Angels

I can't believe nobody has posted anything up yet!
My god.. Every time they fly past and I hear that roar... my stomach climbs into my throat... and everything south moves up a slot..

To anyone who ever wondered why we ride these things... It's because we can't fly fighter jets (or if you do both... )I can only explain it to people like this... When you hit a corner on a race track.. Just perfect.. Maybe the rear steps out just a little.. knee touches.. bike rolls right around corner.. everything.. for that second the only thing on your mind is that corner, the bike, and what you are doing.. and it goes perfect.. the closest approximation I can make to that feeling is when one of those fighter jets flys by silently.. turns a few degrees taps the gas and you hear and feel that jet wash... just fills your gut with butterflies

at least it does mine...
I can't even imagine what it feels like to be on the inside of that thing when it does what it does.

My Wife is at Northwestern right now.. I just walked back from having lunch with her.. and I took the SLR with me.. got a few pics on the walk...

The first one was a complete accident.. meant to take a pic of the plane and avoid the pole.. ended up catching the pole and the sign.. thought it was a little funny.. so here...

Nothing spectacular.. uncropped.. taken from LSD with a 40d and a walkaround lens

They've been buzzing along all afternoon. I'm always to slow to snap a pic though and I knew I'd get the dreaded,
sign without pics.

If I remember correctly everyone else has to stay out over the lake... The Blue Angels are allowed to basically do what they want...

I for one accept the danger.. God the sounds those things make...

That is bad ass. I miss watching them practice since I don't work DT anymore . As for the "why let them practice?" These guys are beyond good, I have lots of faith in them not crashing. In fact, I would be more afraid of fellow members hitting me on group rides then the Blue Angels hitting a building during practice .

ever seen/heard an F15/16/18 take off and then basically rocket straight up on full afterburner? I used to live at the end of the runway at the ANG base in Terre Haute. quite a sight.

They aren't really that close to the buildings anyways. I'm going sunday can't wait. It was my dream to be a blue angel but I couldn't fit into those skin tight flight suits. Has anyone ever seem them not at a remote show? I would love to go down to gary airport to see them do their routine on the ground.

I saw them flying around when I went to lunch today. The building I'm working in has no windows.

It was cool seeing them fly over the Sox game today! Must be cool to work so close to the lake. How do you get anything done with them showing off?
