"Uprise" off Milwaukee (I think) in the city. "Shred Shop" used to be good but I'm not sure if their still around. Out here in the NW suburbs "Tradewinds" off rt. 14 in Crystal lake.

I second the suggestions of Uprise and the Shredshop. I used to go to Windward bitd and I think they still have skate stuff, Wilson yards also. Krush has a shop(in Tinley Park). If you want wheels bigger than 57mm you may want to order online. Don't be surprised by all the softgoods in shops now, it's the only way they can pay the bills.

Skating is so mainstream now that you can just go to the mall and go to either Zumiez or Vans.

I stay in Oak Park. It would be for my daughters (one for each of them). They have been going to the skateboard park lately. One of the girls had 1 but broke it the other day. I was thinking we could just maybe take them to a real skateboard shop and get them one that will be a little more durable. Made to ride it the way they are now starting to ride them.

You're a good dad:

-figure $120-$140 for each complete.
-get them shop decks or a blank in 7.5"-7.75" wide
-get them Independant trucks, they can use those for the next 4 or 5 decks
-get decent wheels and Bones Red bearing, Reds are only about $15/set and good

There used to be a skate shop in Berwyn, on 16th st. between oak park and harlem. Right by the skate park behind lucky dog. Not sure if they are still there, I haven't been through there in a while.

What about the Alley? Windward Sports? Are all my local joints gone????? Shred Shop is awesome. Oakton and Hamlin I believe. The kids are always outside ripping it up. Tom Thumb in Evanston also sold skate gear. I used to buy my factory blems from them.

People take these things too seriously!

Man, it's such a different sport from when I used to skate. I remember rocking these wheels for street skatin. They were like truck wheels compared to the little wheels they use now. Not to mention the durometer of the wheels. Technology has come a long way. Truck risers, now they don't even use them.

If you know what you want for the hobies they sell stuff for AV is good. I buy paintball stuff from there often, prices are good but the knowlage isn't really there that often as it's the storefront for one of the largest online retailers for paintball (and skateboards, snowboards, airsoft....but not by as much).

If you want to ask questions or really look over the merchindice...don't go there...99% of their stock is back in their attached wherehouse...and isn't on the sales floor for customers to touch.

But if you know exactally what you want it's a good place to go to.

llama spit - that is all.

There is a Bad Boyz Toyz (http://www.badboyztoyz.com/) in Orland Park (aka Schaumburg South) off of La Grange road across from Orland Square mall. There is also one in Naperville but that one sucks. You can find skateboards, snowboards, and paintball shit there.
