back when I was broke ass single guy, (in the very recent past), I couldn't get out of the grocery store with less than $40-$50 a week. That didn't count eating out

That's about me too. I do about 200$ in the grocery store a month on the high end. 50-100$ in going out to eat (I like cooking at home).

I spend about $100 a week on food. I don't count dates, they bring these numbers sky high.

I would say about $200 a week. I can give you a better number when I get home as I can break it down between groceries and going out to eat. MS-Money FTW!

I usually don't buy much from the grocery store and thus don't have much at home. I just buy what i'm going to make for that day if I decide to cook at home. Usually I eat a quickie breakfast @ panera ($4) and lunch wherever I feel like (<$10) and just a snack of sorts when i get home. those are typical daily numbers.

I'm about $150-$200 a month.

If I'm doing Atkins it actually goes up another $50, though I'm eating less. Because I'm typically eating a lot of steak and chicken and big salids.

I've been eating out a lot since moving into the new house, I need to stop that chit as eating out is expensive!

maybe I need to reconsider my food shopping habits...

I usually spend ~$300/month on going out to eat and ~$200-250/month on groceries. Oh jeez, I just thought about my bar tabs and I realize why i'm broke :P

I spend $100/month just at work ($10/day to cook @ the firehouse), then another $150-200 or so for groceries at home. That doesn't count eating out though.

How do you define "know how to cook" . I live at home so my momz cooks food. Don't eat breakfast or lunch usually.

I eat all but 1 meal a week from home. My alcohol intake content is limited to a six pack a week or so. I try to eat no more than 2 or 3 meals a week frozen foods (Pizza rolls and burritos baby!!). I usually alternate between burgers, dogs, polish, brats, chicken, and pork chops with a basic noodle side and such. I can usually do about $50 - 60 a week. It annoys my friends that all I get a a drink when we go out for food most times, but it helps with the budget and the quality of food I eat. Bar tabs and dates are not included to the food bill because technically those are expendable. They would fall under the entertainment section of your budget. I should also mention that I usually don't have much in the areas of deserts or chips layin around the house except when I have to buy for a party. If you shop around and don't splurge on that 20 oz. steak every friday night you can get away with a cheap amount on food each month. When I did a budget a year agou I figgured on $250 a month for food and it has worked so far for me.
