Dear Bensenville.... GIVE UP!

lets face it.. you're not gonna win against Daley.. just give up all the money you are wasting trying to save a crappy run down neighborhood and put it into something useful like the town or schools.

you drive in and out of elk grove on tollways that were built on land taken by the state.

the airport upgrates will help millions of airline passangers and the economic prosperity of the region. if you dont like it dont live next to an airport( or drive on the tollways)

From an air traffic perspective new runways won't help that much. What we need is another airport built in the area. That won't happen because Daley only gets landing fees if the airport is in Chicago proper.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I thought the Proposed Peatone Airport was pretty close to being built. I think they own all the land they need, just waiting on some other stuff.

Yup. Toss in a thunderstorm over KRENA, KUBBS, PLANO, or BEARZ and the ATC system is really screwed with all those extra flights.

+1

with my years of flying. Ohare can not add another runway. We already have closecalls on the taxiway. Adding another runway will make things worse. Taxiways are confusing enough and adding more runways makes the situation more dangerous. You get a plane taxing at the wrong time and a plane landing will crash into it.

Another problem is the airspace is congested. Look at radar maps and you will see how planes are basically on top of each other.

Suburbs are moving south and west of chicago. Build one where it will be needed in the future. Daleys a douchbag. He should spend money on unprivelaged schools and fix the gang problems.

I understand what the FAA is doing with the new runways. More parellels will help with congestion somewhat especially because it reduces LAHSO, which when the runways are wet or vis is nil is next to impossible to do.

ATL opened a fifth parellel a few years back and I can say with 100% confidence that has helped their on-time stats.

But ATL doesn't have the winter problems we do so in the end more runways at ORD won't help.

Sure, give me a few minutes.

Sorry, got caught up with work stuff then the Loop Lunch.

EDIT: I can't get the screen shot to work. I've got a great image to post but I'm trying to pull it from a VNC connection and it won't work.

final runway config. less intersecting runways should help more take offs and landings take place.

i hope that they add a new western access sometime soon.

If it gets any more congested, we'll start seeing low, crazy landings like this:
St. Maarten.

Or this:

Honduras (serious, this is how they land ALL aircraft!)

Oh, well that's a bummer for your dad if they end up taking the land. Has he had any offers yet, or threats they'll take it? Or are they just buying it up as it becomes available?

In Downers Grove, the North high school is buying up each property around it as it becomes available for way in the future expansion. Also, the town just took land from people surrounding the Belmont Ave tracks for the overpass. It was a 3 year battle, but the courts took it.
