what, did schumacher fall off the face of the planet now that he doesn't race anymore? or is he not considered an athlete anymore for the same reason? I'm sure he's still being paid endorsements.

Rob, that's they only reason why mofo's play golf in the first place. Otherwise they'd be racing motorcycles.

According to that list F1, Basketball and Soccer would be better options than racing. Although I think he should be making way more than other athletes anyways. Golfers and footballers don't risk their lives everyday in practice and games. With all all the off-court/field shootings I'm not sure I can't say the same about Football and Basketball though!

Woods is now the most recognized athlete in the world. Look at all his endorsements. Nike, Gillett, Gatorade. Etc these are world wide companies.

What other sport was able to tell protesters to F off we will run this tournament on TV with no commercials.

I would be willing to bet most of Rossi's money is also endorsements.

I saw a list where Schumacher is still around 45 million per year. This list appears to be active athletes. Jordan was around 40 million per year also.

90% of Tiger's income is via endorsements. That's nuts.

There are two F1 drivers in the top ten? I disagree wth you on Football players completely. It has been proven over and over again that the average life span of a football players is much less than the average person due to the stress their bodies endure over their career. You only see one NFL player on this list and that is Peyton Manning mainly due to endorsements.

I would say most retiring cycle racers are in much better physical condition than your average NFL running back. Of the three major sports in the U.S., football players have the worst of it. Sure, the likelyhood of instant death is less during a game but we have seen many players paralyzed for life.

$$$ earned have nothing to do with risk. It's all about endorsements, sponsorships and t.v. revenue.

You have to remember NFL contracts are NOT guaranteed. Manning also endorses everything.
