Any divers here?

Anyone divers here? Been a padi diver since '91 and love inland lake/wreck diving best... haven't really met any other divers since moving here from MI, so thought I'd see who's around.

Have full gear, so short of refilling tanks, I'm always ready to go if there's any takers.

Dude don't get me started on this topic.... I miss diving so much, that was probaby one of the coolest things I was ever into. Cert. back in 98-99 but never had the chance to stay with it and I remember little to none about the details of it all Ie. Depth charts/equip fundamentals so on so forth.....

Damn that would be so fun to do rite now!!!

This is a day or two after my cert...
This is the dive I went on, on my wedding day (diving till 3 - married at 6)
I got my Dad to go down on his first dive.. He liked it so much he went the next day too (did that "discover diving") class...
He wants to get certified now...

Funny thing is.. he was in class with this really hot spanish girl (from Madrid I believe) and the instructor basically ignored him... and didn't really teach him anything.. spent all his time with her.. I have a pic or two of her (nothing hot beachtastic or anything...)
My dad in pool (being actively ignored by instructor guy... I think this is actually when he was complaining about it too) hah

I'm sure if I went with someone that had a dry suit I could figure it out with a 10 minute lesson.

You use the suit as your BCD.

It's pretty easy to learn, yes... and a much better dive experience, unless your diving in 70+ degree water... LOL

I took SCUBA in school and wish I could persue it. But I have real issues with releiving pressure in my sinus'. It was an absolute blast. Only did pool work. 1 step short of certification.

I love diving. I have been diving a few times, but was only recently certified. I don't know how much fun a lake dive would be, but let me know.

I think the amount of enjoyment you get from it will depend upon your expectations. For me, having started out inland diving and being used to visibility as low as 6", it was always exciting, because you never knew what you were going to come across. However, having also dove Cancun, Cozumel and the Domincan Republic, it is also great diving, just much different.

Once upon a time I used to dive in january with an 8mm wetstuit, and that was the time of great memories. Mind you I wouldn't do it again at this point in my life, but I'm glad I had the chance to experience it. Besides, after being in 40 degree water for 10 minutes, you really don't feel it anymore ... and you learn not to piss before you dive... you save it up for the dive

With lake diving, especially wrecks, it's really interesting, just not as colorful as the ocean.

I got certified with PADI in '75. Haven't been in the water since '83 when I sold my gear to pay bills. I miss it, but job, family, location, money, etc. has made it a long time since I've been under. I really should take a refresher course and get back to it.

i had one over 10 years ago, and stopped after doing it for a year or 2 when i was in south america, only to find out a couple years ago, that PADI and that other one "i forget right now" had no fucken records of stuff over 10 years ago since they redid there whole tracking system of PADI divers. so i gotta go in and go through the stuff again, while i am still pissed about it. i really dont mind just hate shelling out the 300+ again.

also since that time i am been doing free diving.

Same thing happened with my Wife..

She was certified and they had no record of it.. + she had a BCD, Tanks, and all of the equipment.. When she went away to college her Mom donated it all to charity... [email protected] Can you imagine going to church to get some free clothes and them giving you a BCD?

I went thru the classes with her .... So it wasn't to bad.. My whole life it was that one thing I really wanted to do.. That I never got around to.. So we took the classes together before the wedding and did our cert dives down in Mexico..

Interesting side note.. We had everyone down there for our wedding.. We were diving with her two brothers and talking about getting married in 2 days.. Connie jokes about "we should do it down there..." the older guy in our group (only 4 of us.. So the only guy in our group that wasn't in the wedding) pipes up.. "I'm a baptist minister up in... can't remember state... I'll marry you guys down there if you like..." We almost went for it..
Would have ruined her perfect 7 7 7 date but it would have been a cool story (that if the parents found out about would kill us for (her parents werent to happy about getting drug down to mexico for a wedding)

I am thinking I might like to sneak off for a quick Cayman islands trip... Maybe we could make a CLSB outing.. Grand Cayman was supposed to have some of the best diving in our area.. but they have had a rough go lately.. so not 100% on the state of their reefs right now... The turtle farm was cool... and you can buy Cubans there
