Wreck Diving - 9/13 or 9/14

Looking for an excuse to finally get in the water this year? here it is...

There is a wreck dive charter out of Burnham Harbour that runs $100 each for 4-6 divers.

This is for a 2 Tank/Halfday charter which departs at 2pm and returns at 5:30pm.

According to the operator the thermal clines have been averaging around 30'-40', and visibility below is 50'+

Here's a list of the wrecks to be dove: http://www.windycitydiving.net/wrecks.htm

Whose in? Need another 3-5 divers... any takers?

Any idea on what equipment would cost to rent for the day? I only have a mask, snorkel, and fins. I assume a wetsuit, BCD, reg, and weights could be around $50-60? But that is just a guess.

Underseas has day rental packages from $40 - $75. Here's a link to their rental page. I don't know these guys, so this isn't an endorsement, just information for you. http://www.underseas.com/equpment/rentpric.htm

Oh crap , scrap that... didn't make the connection between 9/14 and Moto GP, duh!

We'll try for 9/20 or 9/21... I'll repost for any takers after Labor Day.

As for your 7mm suit, I would expect it will be just fine. What I used to do, just in case, is wear long johns underneath. This will trap the water and allow your body to warm it up, and reduce the flow through the suit, keeping it warmer.

Although I don't expect it to be necessary in Sept., a couple of gallons of warm water dumped into the suit pre-dive will soak and pre-warm the long johns making the dive much warmer. We'll talk with the operator prior to find out how the water temps have been which will give a heads up also. He was saying that it's been wierd this year with the winds and currents.. with it being 72 degrees at 80' one week and thermal clines at 40' the next.

72 Degrees at 80'? in Lake Michigan?? Thank you global warming
